Introduction
President Donald Trump has shocked not only the United States but the world by announcing on July 1st, 2017 to everyone that this would be the first country to join the Paris climate change agreement. Not too long after Trump announced that the United States was going to withdraw from the Paris climate change agreement. According to the NY Times, it states that the United States could not withdraw from the agreement until after the next election in November 2020 (Mooney2018) In December 2015 is when this all started, all 195 countries agreed to reducing greenhouse gases which was President Barack Obama’s environmental idea. The idea of the Paris climate accord was that no matter if the country is rich or poor they would help put an effort to stop the worst effects of climate change. President Donald Trump has called the climate change a hoax and that he was going to cancel the deal with Paris. There is no scientific reason to sign the agreement. According to The Conversation, “The Paris Agreement does not anywhere dare use the words “pledge” or “commitment.” So averse is the agreement to anything that may be seen as too binding that its announcement was delayed at the very last minute as the United States insisted on replacing the word ‘shall’ with ‘should’ in relation to the responsibility of industrialized countries to mitigate the effects of climate change.” Why commit or invest in something that is a lot of money and uncertain? I agree with president trump and nor do I think we should agree to the Paris Climate Change agreement, if up for negotiation the cost needs to be reduced. People who don’t agree are considered to be “climate deniers” but here’s why us people who agree aren’t climate deniers.
Strengths:
The Paris agreement was a big expense for the United States and would destroy thousands of jobs and the manufacturing done by Americans. Some strengths of Trump not signing this deal with Paris is that it’s going to save the United States a lot of money. Our GDP by the year of 2035 would be destroyed $2.5 trillion if we decided to sign this agreement. Trump has put up a barricade to achieve a 3% growth rate an American economics. Other countries every five years have a say whether they’re staying in the agreement or not. Not only did it waste money for America, but it also wasted taxpayer money. There is a green climate fund which would collect about $100 billion per year by the year of 2020 and the reason for this was that it was going to this subsidize the green energy and help pay for other climate problems and poorer nations. When Obama was in office his administration sent $1 billion that was taxpayer money to the green climate fund without any authorization from the Congress. Unethical and corrupt governments were collecting the funds being donated to the green climate fund, which means that were not actually giving into those who are in need. The news is not happy about the fact that the United States, Syria and Nicaragua are not going to be participating in the agreement, but this shows leadership. China has serious issues on coal consumption and air monitoring, and then falsely put out information repeatedly about it not being that big of a deal. I believe that us humans have prevented a lot of the bad pollution and global warming is a thing but why should we take a risk at something that might not work and if it does only help it a little?
Weaknesses:
Some weaknesses of the Paris accord would be that if the United States stayed in it would 400,000 destroy jobs with a shortfall of 200,000 manufacturing jobs. Trumps whole campaign was “to make America great again” and in other words putting America first. He’s thinking about what it’s going to do to the people and how it will affect their families. If we decided to stay in a total income loss for a family of four or more would be $20,000 which will affect many. However, we don’t even know if this climate change plan is going to work and if it’s going to affect our world as a whole. There has been many private sectors that are shifting towards a cleaner and greener environment with cheap natural gas and renewables which would help get rid of coal plants. States like New York and California who are already being proactive for the whole United States and has put together their own programs to reduce carbon emissions from power plants and vehicles. President Donald Trump doesn’t have an exact answer on whether it’s going to benefit our country and if it’s going to work. Yes, they want everyone to be a part of it but for the amount of money it costs us we need to renegotiate for either a better price or do stuff on our own to help make carbon emissions better. We’re not a global community we are a world with borders and countries we need to look out for our own first before we get involved globally. 15 % or 1.2 billion people have no source of electricity and don’t have an access of getting it either, especially through greenhouse gases.

Opportunities:
When a decision is made there are always many opportunities that come along with them. The United States has a lot of technology to help create new ideas that can make us more money by getting all the other countries to join us. We need to figure out how our country is going to test different amounts of the greenhouses gases to see how much is being produced and used. President Trump keeps on proving people wrong by doing thing with our country and creating a lot of jobs. We needed a president that is willing to take risks and help the people and our country as a whole. President Donald Trump has gone bankrupt several times and back up to a millionaire. Anything is possible with the right mindset, hard work, and taking risks. The Paris agreement was not something that the united states had to do. Therefore, we had the opportunity to back out and use our own resources to help the environment. Our country can go greener in way more aspects such as cars, recycling, and solar panels which can help make our earth cleaner and last longer. For decades we have been destroying the earth and in any way that we can help make it better we should all give effort. In the state of New York, you must recycle in some areas if you don’t it can result in a fine for not doing so. Mr. Trump will do something about this agreement and has the opportunity to renegotiate.
Threats:
There are many repercussions on pulling out of the Paris Accord it could threaten the United States with trade or impose carbon on tariffs. As far as trade, many other countries especially China, are the main distributers to the United States as far as goods. If you look at most of the products that you buy most of them are made in China. This could hurt us in the future because they produce almost all our products that we sell or consume, and our gross domestic product will decline. According to (Huffington Post) there would be a loss of over $2.5 trillion in gross domestic product and increase in electricity would affect every household between 13% to 20%. Climate Change can result in more refugees, conflicts, Terrorism and threats according to (ForeignPolicy). By backing out will give China more of an advantage than the United States which could threaten us in the near future. A threat in general would be in the future that if the carbon emissions in the future get bad enough to the point where it can become a medical issue and potentially hurt our bodies.
Conclusion
In conclusion, there are many strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats to the Paris Accord. Everyone has their own opinion alongside with the pros and cons of the whole situation. The United States has the drive to be better and improve on the overall climate change. With President Donald Trump guiding us in a different direction and is taking risk for all us Americans. The question comes down to, is climate change a catastrophic event and can we in the United States? And if so how can stop it?
