Global warming means the change in humidity that causes an increase in the earth’s climate. The earth’s average temperature past century compared to the present has increased by 1.6°F, and is estimated to increase from 0.6°F to 8.5°F over the next hundred to fifty years. Nepal is one of the least developed countries in the world and was ranked as the 4th most vulnerable country due to the impacts of climate change in 2011. There is a worldwide acceptance that global warming is growing very quickly and has been creating numerous threats to humanity in this generation. Global warming is an important environmental issue in Nepal because it affects our country in many ways like agriculture, biodiversity, and loss in habitat as well as directly affects our health. Thus, these impacts will directly knock the economy of the country and hence the livelihood of the people.

Global Warming and Agriculture in Nepal

As we all know that Nepal is an agricultural country, from the late 1990’s till date our main source of money, food, and also job employment opportunities for the people is agriculture, it provides almost 35% of the gross domestic/private product (GDP). Global warming has caused a lot of problem in our agriculture for the last 15 years, the change in the weather is the main reason that causes the change in the duration of rainy season which effects the grow of vegetables, fruits, tomatoes and also different types of foods.

Also, some fruits have less fruits and bad quality due to change in climate. A tree species – Koringa always blossomed together with our national flower, rhododendron around the month of june/july, but last year it blossomed 15 days earlier which is also due to the climate changes, fish species here in nepal will also be affected because it grows well in cold water and the change in the climate will harm them.

Because change in climate are visible by the locality, the regional government will have to focus more on variation measures. To solve the problems all the peoples must perform many activities, like:

  • advancement of organisations for economic purposes
  • increased participation of co-operation and commerce in agriculture sector
  • changes of the usable lane policy to help commercial agriculture development
  • accumulation of rainwater and conserving water for agriculture
  • Boosting people’s about the importance of reforestation and
  • introduction of new machinery in water administration

Lastly, fruitful actions in climate change adaptation can help in the eradication of global warming by awaring the local peoples in the community. Nepal is rich in biodiversity. The flora and fauna is nature’s present to us. There are many different types of flora and fauna (plants and animals) that are found in Nepal. For example, yarsagumba (Cordyceps sinensis) and the one horn rhino are the most antique flora and fauna found in Nepal, among others: 57 mammal species, 285 bird species, 39 reptile species, and 31 fish species, in which four species of mammals and seven species of birds are already extinct, there is lot of deforestation in nepal which is well above the average percent compared to other Asian countries. The lack of attention from the government is the most likely reasons behind this outrageous act.

Reforestation programs are needed like environment-friendly programs there must be strict rules and regulations against the people who violate it and most importantly self-realization from the people’s itself can help in the protection of flora and fauna from disappearing from the globe, there must be collective cooperation among the government like the NGOs and the INGOs and every people of the country. In addition, the government can also generate employment Besides, creating awareness among the people through different types of rallies, news media, and assemblies about the importance of flora and fauna from aspects can also play a big role in the protection of flora and fauna in Nepal.

Conclusion

In conclusion, I think the native of our country has a big role in the protection and conservation of flora and fauna. Also, there are many job opportunities for people who are poor that can reduce poverty which can help in numerous ways for the country. Climate change is one of the biggest health challenges of the world and a growing threat to a humans health. Human beings are not protected by the changing weather patterns and the changes in the quality of water we drink the air we breathe and the food we get as well as the infrastructures we live in. The estimation is that world temperature is likely to increase by 1.2 to 6.9 degree centigrade in the time period of the 1990 and 2100. Climate change is getting worldwide attention because it is affecting a lot to the earth, it is predicted that by 2022 that human activities like high levels of vehicle smokes, western urbanization, and other stuff like these could kill 500 000 people in the world every year.

Our country is very sensitive to climate change because of poverty, lack of good preventive strategies as well as the bad capacity to adapt in that situation. There are different plans that need to be implemented soon here in Nepal. It should use the benefits in utilizing the different types of opportunity in expanding its platform to the global community to minimize the global warming effect and seek foreign help with money and technologies. Researchers have proved that ozone can increase the danger of early pregnancy loss. Thus, the implementation of different types of strategies can help our country in curing our health sector of global warming. In Conclusion, I personally think that global warming is a very serious issue right now in Nepal. In the modern context, we have been losing our forest at a very fast rate.

Afforestation might be one of the best ways to fight against global warming. Banning the use of very old vehicles and usage of electric vehicles instead of petrol using vehicles can also. But the most important one is the use of the greenhouse effect which is something that helps to maintain the temperature of the Earth’s surface, making this planet liveable. To every problem there is a solution, thus I feel if we all work hand in hand to eradicate this issue then global warming can be solved easily.
