Sophie’s world is a novel which talks too much about the existence of God and religion. This was one of the most concern of philosophers, where some though God doesn’t exist while others believe in the existence of a God who is the beginning of everything in this world. Existence of God in philosophy involves the nature and expanse of knowledge, and nature of life, existence or reality.

It is also one of the subjects of debate in our societies or popular cultures. God can be defined as the creator of the earth, universe, stars, and all its content. God is also the leader or ruler of the earth, universe, and the origin of moral authority. Below are some important points why some philosophers believe in God and others don’t believe.

To begin, it is significant to know that believing in God depends on your perception from God, reason why people believe in the existence of God and others do not believe it. Those who doesn’t believe in God always asked the proof of the existence of God because God is irrational. They think that it is irrational to belief in something that doesn’t have a physical evidence. The don’t understand while people describe God as an omnipotence, omnipresent and omniscient God. According to their reasoning, we cannot believe in something who is supernatural. Because it is contrary to the domain of science, since science hypothesis is based on the natural world.

Secondly, “God as loving and good to but if God truly exists then they shall be no evil and injustice in our world” (Gaarder 153). This reason in somehow makes sense because how could God be described as loving and good to human beings but allows evil things to happen in our world today without even mentioning all the injustice, pain, starvation as we see in other countries where people are dying of hunger and diseases we have in our societies.

Moreover, we have people who believe in God and his existence. “All that exists is God, or the One, but in the same way that a beam of light grows progressively dimmer and is gradually diminished” (Gaarder 133). According to this quote our life is illuminated by a light and that light is God. Gaarder describe God as light of the world. Reason while we need to believe in God and trust him. All things that exist should believe in him and trust. It is true that they are some evil things in our world today but that cannot be an excuse not to believe in God.

These are some of the realities that we must accept because of the disobedience of man. From the day God punish Adam and Eve by driving them away of the Garden of Eden-Death also came into the world. So, we must just thank God for the grace he gave us not to experience such type of pains. “We can recognize that there is a God just by walking around in the natural world. We can easily see that he loves flowers and animals, otherwise he would not have made them” (Gaarder 180).

Just the earth is a proof that God exist because we cannot explain how the earth have been created, not to talk of stars, seas, oceans, mountains and universe. All these things prove the existence of a supernatural force which acts, and that force is God. The nature is a good example of God’s work and I don’t see how God can’t exist when I see just the nature, heaven or stars at night. Even our body proofs that God exist because we can’t explain how all the organs are formed, how can we breathe et even grow. A baby in the womb of a woman is another example. They are so many things that proves the existence of God.

To continue, “To Spinoza, God did not create the world in order to stand outside it. No, God is the world. Sometimes Spinoza expresses it differently. He maintains that the world is in God” (Gaarder 247). Spinoza was one of the philosophers who believe in God. He identified God as being nature and creation. Spinoza also describe God as nature and believed that God is the sum of all the natural and physical laws of the world. In our world today, God is considered as our father because of his infinite love he has for us.

“We can moreover claim that the existence of God is far more clearly perceived than the existence of man. It states that it is impossible to conceive of God not existing. This is because God is defined as a substance consisting of an infinity of attributes and it has already been proven that it pertains to the nature of a substance to exist” (Gaarder 280). From this quote we can just conclude that God is the cause of everything that exist. Everything that exist in this world is by the will of God so, if we must ask who is not existing, the answer should be the human being because God has been existing even before the creation of the earth. Everything that we can see and feel from this world are all God’s power.

God shows us his glory in many ways either through miracles or every beautiful thing we see in this world. It should be obvious that God exist because if we see around us, we have the world we live in, the galaxy that the world is in, and the universe that the galaxy is in. These all shows the existence of God because all of this are his imagination and his creation. Everything that has been created by God is perfect because he took his time to create everything with details. Some people fail to look inside themselves but focus on what is happening in the world and our societies and therefore conclude that God does not exist.

God is the beginning of wisdom and the knowledge of good or bad comes from God not our parents. An example might be a small child when he is growing, he starts to differentiate what is good and what is bad. This knowledge can come only from God and no one else. All we need is to see Jesus who is God son in the form of a human being but also a God. What he did had impact on our life and in the existence of God. From Jesus time many philosophers approved the fact that God existed as we see in this novel Sophie’s world.

To conclude, from all the points raise above there is no way somebody could refuse the existence of God because they are so many things that proves the existence of God. The first example is us because without the presence of God we can not live. No matter the situation we live in we should not reject or refuse the existence of God. God is the natural light to human reason, and he is the one who protect us and directs our way. When we recognize God as father, he would protect us from any danger. Finally, as God’s creation we know God is real, all we must do is to take a good look on what he has done and give him praise.
