My keen interest to grasp the concept of science, as well as math, has always been rising curiosity about physics in me. This inquisitiveness always made me stand out amongst the crowd. I did the undergraduate degree, majoring in Physics, from Tribhuvan University. Though some unsolved mysteries about physics and physical phenomena that had ingrained in me got some way to change itself into reality learning physics theoretically couldn’t help me visualize physics in real life. Therefore, I joined at the Tribhuvan University again for my Master Degree in physics. Lack of equipment and infrastructures, this degree couldn’t quench the thirst of research-based physics which is a sole reason I joined The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) in the United States with an offer of Teaching Assistant (TA) and Scholarship.

After completion of the Master degree in Nepal, I started teaching Physics at British Gorkha Higher Secondary School, Kathmandu, Nepal. My major responsibilities were to teach theory, perform basic Physics lab and take students to Exhibitions. I was extremely delighted instructing them and answering their queries as I found teaching as a decent profession. Moreover, conducting the meeting with seniors and parents has made my communicating ability stronger. Currently, as a TA in UTEP, I am conducting a Mechanics lab for undergraduates that has increased my communicative and technical skills eloquently.

After arrival in UTEP, it is a wonderful experience to blend up with such global culture. I join Experimental Bio-photonics lab with Dr. Chunqiang Li, renowned and, inspiring professor, as my adviser. My first work, done in a team, was related with the phase study of Aluminum Nitride (AlN) which was achieved using the two-photon femtosecond laser to characterize the Second Harmonic Generation (SHG) and analyzed the data using Image-J and plotted using Origin. We did X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) with Rigaku and Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) imaging because the data from SHG solely is not sufficient to analyze the phase of the sample.

Here we studied how the external conditions like temperature, pressure etc. during the formation of AlN contributes to phase change. This project is in its manuscript where I am a Co-author. My recent work is interdisciplinary ‘Two-photon flow cytometry with airy beam light sheets’. Here It is designed to developed technique to detect the cancer-cell in the vivo sample rapidly in real time. I learn basic Python and run pre-written code by changing the parameter which is new for me but interesting. Moreover, I learned how to align the non-linear laser beam and the fundamental MATLAB to analyze the data.

The weekly presentation of research work in front of Advisor and other lab mates and listening to others work has made me very close to the contemporary research approaches and built confidence to articulate my ideas about research activities. I have obtained honors with GPA of 4 on a scale of 4. Attending the seminars at school enhance the idea of contemporary and interdisciplinary research. I myself took part as Poster Presenter at Interdisciplinary Research Expo (IDRE) held on 5th and 6th and Graduate Research Expo on 8th and 9th of Nov of 2018 in UTEP.

Now my interest in Physics lies in experimental physics and more closely the Biophysics. I found Biophysics as its content fascinating because of the diversity of field it can have in research. Development of Optical tweezers had been successful in studying a variety of biological systems in the order of a micron in size. Combine with simulation Biophysics has great applications on Biomaterials, Metamaterials, Nanomaterials, Nanocavities, and their Medicinal applications may lead us to the betterment of Human being. Another important research that I would like to carry out is in Condensed Matter Physics as it is overlapped with Material Science and Nanotechnology

Further, it is closely related to Biophysics and Atomic physics which makes the scope of Condensed Matter Physics larger and stronger. MAGLEV (magnetic levitation) train, Quantum dots, SQUIDS are its important contributions. I am also ready to go in any branch of Applied Physics because they are equally interesting for me. I decided on pursuing research-oriented graduate Ph.D. in Physics after a careful workout where my inner desire lies.
