Some seniors are hoping to get into someone’s college. Some are happy some are not. Students are saying goodbye to their friends and the school that they have known for the last four years, while at the same time they are dreaming about who they want to become. High school was an important time in my life. I got my first job, applied to college and survived the hell. I discovered my love for fashion design and I got meet some of my closest friends. I was also taught by some of the best teachers. Graduating meant leaving the town that I love and know and writing the next few chapters of my life in the unfamiliar world of New Brunswick.
We all are looking forward to summer, college tours, and many more great things that come our way. When you sit and just look at how far you came is really a blessing. For example I been in school 12+ years and to finally walk across the stage is really a great opportunity to look forward to. Seeing my brother, sister, and cousin graduate I always wished that was me, now that this day has come, I’m going to celebrate and be glad that God allowed me to finish high school and attend college. For some it might seem like it’s a long time or whatever you’re going through might seem like a hard obstacle. Don’t give up just take it one day at a time.
Many people have experienced the overwhelming excitement that you feel as you approach high school graduation day, and for me that’s a day I will never forget. The amount of emotions that you feel on graduation day is unbelievable, and I have yet to experience anything else like it. I can remember feeling anxious to celebrate the big day with my friends and family, while at the same time I was panicking thinking about having to walk across the stage in front of that many people. Then, the more I thought about the reality of graduation day, I started to get curious, but nervous about being able to start a new chapter in my life once I graduated.
There are several reasons why I consider high school graduation one of the most exciting day of my life. I still had some mixed emotions about it. When they called my name, I walked to the side of the stage, where I had to wait in a short line before actually crossing the stage. I couldn’t wait to get that diploma in my hand. I finally made it up to the stage. I shook the principle hand one last time as he handed me my diploma and made it back off stage. When I sat back down I felt a relief that I had gotten that part over with, and could enjoy the remainder of the graduation.
I took what I felt like a million pictures, and hugged everyone I knew, and headed off to my graduation party to continue to celebration with the ones I love the most. That night I think I smiled and laughed the most more than I ever have in my life. As the end of the night approached us, I couldn’t stop thinking about my mixed emotions I had about starting a new chapter in my life.
