The employment trends will allow you to act quickly and the awareness of employment helps people to find out where the jobs help you make decisions about our career path(Blackett,2016). After reviewing some employment trends, the three unexpected careers that I think my soft and hard skills would fit in would be a home health aide, janitor, and a secretary(Blackett,2016).
Soft skills are the type of skills that are needed to help do a job and it also helps you do your job and function while at work(Blackett,2016). Soft skills are needed for a productive and fulfilling career(Majid et al,2019). Hard skills are skills that can be the reason for a change and be the cause of success with a person’s career(Blackett,2016). Hard skills are needed to help you do your job well and are from setting career goals and getting an education(Blackett,2016). Many companies notice that technical skills are not enough for employees to reach their goals that is why employers look at soft skills(Majid et al,2019).
The first career I chose was a home health aide. Being a home health aide means going to a sicks patient’s home to take care of them. You might have to give the patient a bath or help assist with a wash-up. You might have to help them set up their breakfast or even help feed them and change their bedsheets. My soft skills would come in handy for this job because there will not be a manger or somebody at the patient’s job telling me what I need to do. Being able to assist the patient with their needs should be common sense. My hard skills for this career would also require me to at least have a high school diploma. Again, this job would not be too complicated. I have worked as a nursing assistant at a hospital for 3 years and have experience in that. I did not go to people’s homes, but taking care of the patient was just the same.
The second career that I chose was a janitor. I have never done this type of work before as a professional job, but growing up and having to clean up after myself and having a family of my own that you have to constantly clean up after I am sure this job would not be so hard. To be a janitor you would just have to make sure that the place you are working at has clean floors, bathroom, break area, and empty the garbage. My soft skills for this would be to make sure that the place is clean. The hard skills for this do not require you to have an education beside a high school diploma. It is just a basic cleaning that is not hard.
The third career that I chose was a secretary. The secretary’s job would be easy. I would just need to be able to answer the phone with a pleasant tone and take messages, make copies of papers, and make appointments. The soft skill for this job would be able to work well with the public and have lots of patients. My hard skill would be at least to have a high school diploma. This job should not require a high school diploma.
