An activist is someone who will stand up for what they think is right, and someone who will not back down no matter how hard things get. They will never give up, and will always push to fix wrong things in the world without using violence, instead with using justice. This is what an activist is.
One very important and influential activist is the man named Martin Luther King Junior. King always stood up for the rights of african american people, when in the world they did not have as many rights or as good establishments as whites did. But no matter how many names he was called, no matter how many times he was attacked by a dog, sprayed with fire hoses, beaten up or even arrested, he never backed down for what he believed was right: to have equality, not inequality, to desegregate, not segregate, to stand up for yourself by using a pen, not your fists. Because of these things, this man is a true personification of an activist.
A modern day activist that is still fighting for her beliefs is a fifteen year-old girl from Sweden named Greta Thunberg. Thunberg is trying to get the world leaders to better address climate change, but before she had a big speech in Katowice, Poland at the Cop24 UN Climate Conference, she went on strike before Sweden’s parliamentary election during school days, even during school hours. She did this because she wanted the government to undertake a radical response to climate change. She inspired thousands to walk out of their school on fridays to order adults to help save the future of upcoming generations. But it was not easy. Adults said she should go back to class. Her father also did not one hundred percent agree she should be out of school, but respects her stance and determination nonetheless. She has know been named by Time Magazine as one of the most influential teens of 2018. She has recently made a speech at Katowice, Poland at the Cop24 UN Climate Conference, and scolded the world leaders for not being mature enough to take action. She has influenced thousands all over the world, and is an extremely influential person and activist.
