The most believable theory is she crashed on Nikumaroro. What happened to Amelia Earhart?
On the morning of July 2nd, 1937, Earhart found herself lost, and she was never found again. She was trying to fly to Howland Island, but she never made it. The reasons are physical evidence, and experts believe that she crashed on Nikumaroro.
The first reason is physical evidence was found. She crashed on Nikumaroro because a plane was found. According to the article “Vanished,” “In 1940, bones were found on Nikumaroro…” (Carro 31). Another evidence that is in the article “The Explorers” is, “investigations have turned up…., and might have been an Electra window” (Biography.com 20). If physical evidence was found, physical evidence proves she and Noonan were on the island.
The next reason is experts believe she crashed on Nikumaroro. According to the article “Vanished,” “TIGHAR has been investigating Earhart’s disappearance for decades. This group believes that she and Noonan crashed on Nikumaroro” (Carro 27).
The second part of this evidence that she crashed on Nikumaroro is according to the article “Vanished,” “Ballard found the evidence so strong that last August, he and his crew set out for Nikumaroro” (Carro 23). Ballard is an expert searcher who found the Titanic; thus, he is a trustworthy person in terms of what happened to Amelia Earhart. Both pieces show she could have crashed on Nikumaroro.
Once again, the reasons are physical evidence was found, and experts believe she crashed on Nikumaroro. There are plenty of reasons and claims out there. There is a possibility something else happened, but this is the most logical theory. The exact answer is found yet but remember Earhart will be always remembered for her achievements. Hopefully scientists can find an exact answer to where Earhart and Noonan are.
