My name is Victor Oladeji and I am a student at Houston Community College. I am majoring in Management Information Systems. My career goal is to become a Chief Information Security Officer and my educational goal is to have a Ph.D. in Information Technology. I would like to be a Chief Information Security Officer because I would love to use my special cyber-security skills to improve and protect the cyberworld of my company.
My career goal is to become a Chief Information Security Officer. I started having the passions to helping people in securing their information since I was young. I was always surrounded by computer because my mom owned a cyber-café. I was always excited about knowing what it could do and the limits of its operation. I knew that since it could be used to do good things, it could also be used to do evil in society. I was always passionate about how to make it safe and secure. The rate of cyber thefts has been increasing drastically which cause more demand for cyber-ninjas to fight against the attackers.
Cybersecurity is a great program with huge benefits because recently, society has been frequently requesting for cyber-security professionals more than ever before which makes them highly paid. Cyber professionals earn an average of a hundred thousand dollars ($100,000) to three hundred thousand ($300,000) yearly. As security issues become more dangerous and complex, some employers are starting to specify that Chief Information Security Officers must have a technical master’s degree with a concentration in IT security. To attain this goal, I would have to pursue a master’s degree in Information Technology Security.
My educational goal is to pursue a Ph.D. in Information technology and excel in order to attain a successful career. To attain this goal, I am determined to finish with high grades and achievement on my bachelor’s degree, continue my education by attaining a master’s degree and finally having my Ph.D. I always try to work hard in my education and give room to improve on my grade. I am also determined to be the best among my peers and have great achievements in every aspect of my life including my education.
According to Cybersecurity Education, the steps required to become a Chief Information Security Officer are; Start as a programmer or analyst, get the education to become a security analyst, have extra training and certificates, oversee a security team, attain an MBA with an IT security focus and get promoted to chief information security officer.
To show my interest in the welfare of the community, I can help people who are trying to enter or re-enter the workforce. I will be able to use my skills in security to mentor one of our clients to improve the services in their stores or to introduce a new service in a store. I can provide help regarding office and clerical jobs, business and financial fields, jobs related to IT (Information Technology) and security, education jobs, social services fields, customer service, hospitality, and food service fields.
There will also be a need to help in green jobs, retail work, and healthcare careers, as well to provide career guidance to people with criminal backgrounds, people with disabilities, young adults, veterans, older workers, women, and immigrants. In the past, I have also helped by volunteering in a church as servant leaders. The serving experience has always built in me what it means to serve thereby, improving and giving me leadership abilities.
Finally, I hope to attain my goals in order to fulfill my promise of helping the society and making the world a better place which is why I am taking the next step by applying to my Four-years university to earn a bachelor’s degree.
