President Rodrigo Duterte is against deporting Chinese workers here in our country. It is because he said that if the Chinese workers work here in our country we Filipinos can easily work in China as well, our President didn’t consider that many of our fellow countrymen will suffer in his decision to make Chinese works by lacking to find stable work in our own country. Our country is so small and there will be limitations on accommodating foreign workers, in our generation most of the people have the difficulties finding their jobs then why is it we need to let Chinese workers find their own work in our society. But Duterte also said that if we deport Chinese workers back to their country we simply like do it to ourselves because many Filipinos in China are also working so there is no such thing for him to deport Chinese workers.

The aim of this position paper is simply to be against on the propaganda of our President because we all know that there will always be another way to solve problems not in a way that many of us suffer and unable to find their own work because of the Chinese workers that will work in our country, and also to find the possible solutions on the jobs that Chinese workers that have, and we all know it should be for Filipinos job. We cannot let them take our jobs that are supposed to be for our fellow countrymen.

Our country has been in the third-world country and it has succumbed in China’s BRI (Belt and Road Initiative) where Asia, Africa, Middle-East and Europe, and it has been the way of China to expand and elevate their economy. Four reasons why it’s problematic, first China’s way of lending money to build infrastructures in the country would only cost to bury the country in debt and be entangled to China’s debt trap, second it’s the strategy of China for not being able to pay them and instead the country has to give up the portion of the resources, third only Chinese workers are able to work under the BRI (Belt and Road Initiative), and that’s one of the reasons why Duterte let the illegal Chinese workers here in our country, fourth the BRI causes threat to our biodiversity and mother nature on the report of (Punongbayan, 2019).

Why do we need to stand firm on our rights to have our country only for our own? It is because there is a big difference in China and the Philippines. China has more jobs to offer than the Philippines, they have a huge number of jobs that has more rooms for other foreign like us to work. They are flooding our land because of the Chinese Immigrants that migrates in our country (Mourdoukoutas, 2018). But here in our country we have limited resources, funds, and also jobs that can lead to jobless people. So what will happen if many Chinese workers will work in our country? Our population will increase and also most of us will be unfortunate in finding their own jobs. Just what like our Vice President Leni Robredo cited that several Filipinos are complaining that some jobs supposed to be for Filipinos are given to Chinese workers, (Robredo, 2019) and also Rep.

Gary Alejano (Magdalo party-list) and former Solicitor General Florin Hilbay also agreed with the Vice President. He pointed out that if we accommodate them it will happen that we becoming “second-class citizens” because of the privilege being given to Chinese. Just like on the article that we’ve read the author Raissa Robles said that she wonders simply because, if over a hundred thousand Chinese nationals are working in the country with “tourist” visas, are they paying income taxes? Are they registered with the Bureau of Internal Revenue? Or is the Philippine government giving all of them a free pass while it goes after alleged Filipino tax evaders? (Robles, 2019) She is on point on her statement about Chinese workers.

The increasing population of illegal Chinese immigrant is a threat to our fellow countrymen, especially for those who are still looking for a decent job. There has been a report that around 100,000 to 250,000 Chinese workers who are illegal to work in our country had been deployed (Rey, 2019). There’s a possibility that the Philippines would be overrun by China since their population is around 1.3 billion and we only have around 106 million populations – if they kept on welcoming a more and uncontrollable flood of Chinese illegal immigrants, then the Philippines is no longer meant for the Filipinos, but for China. They have a huge part of land already, and our country is too small and too limited resources for them to fill it in.

Maybe our Country become Overpopulated

President Rodrigo Duterte mentioned that we have the same amount of immigrants in the country of China, and if we were to deport them – we are overlooking of them doing the same thing to our Filipinos working as an OFW (Overseas Filipino Workers). In terms that the President approved that deporting illegal Chinese workers in the Philippines should be done thoroughly, but what happened is that according to (Raissa, 2019) She submitted an (FOI) Freedom of Information about the Bureau of Immigration to release the data of the illegally employed Chinese nationals – and it took her four weeks before she received the data, it was assumed that it has already been organized and ready to be liberated to be consumed by readers; instead of getting full result of the data, it was too short and inaccurate.

The Belt Road Initiative (BRI) of China is one of the reason why the President is letting the illegal Chinese workers in our country and letting the flux of Chinese in our country and the number of Chinese that are in our country was not entirely given, or rather it was too short for one to estimate. Our country might end up getting buried in debt because we’re now involved with the BRI, and it’s the strategic way of China to hand over the portion of your resources. Deporting Chinese workers in our country could end up doing the same thing, where OFW (Overseas Filipino Workers) could be deported, and it’s a lose situation for people who are looking for decent paying job. Filipinos are losing the opportunity to work in our country, because the illegal Chinese workers are filling the slots that are meant for Filipinos. Why do we need illegal Chinese workers to work here, when we Filipinos can fill the work and do it better?
