The Bill of Rights was written by James Madison in 1791. He intended to write the Bill of Rights to convey the rights of the individuals that the Constitution did not specify accurately and it also was written to protect the rights of the individual’s freedom even though the majority of the people wanted them extracted.
In my opinion, I believe that the 1st and 2nd amendments are the most important ones in the Bill of Rights. First off, The First Amendment is essential because, without free speech, we the people of the United States would not be able to speak openly and freely about issues that affect our everyday life. For example, Martin Luther King Jr. spoke freely in his speech in Washington D.C. which motivated people to protest. If this amendment was never ratified, we might be living in a world that would separate us from our race, sex, and gender.
Next, the 2nd amendment is significant because it states we the people have the right to bear arms, which means that it allows individuals to protect their freedom and defend themselves and the common good against an overreaching government, which means that the government cannot take away individual firearms. For example, your father can keep a rifle for hunting in his garage, so police cannot burst into your home and take your gun away because they would need a warrant.
Although the bill of rights allows us to have our freedom, these amendments can also have some negative consequences. For example, for the 1st amendment, people can express themselves by taking nude pictures and posting them on social media. Also for the 2nd amendment, the issue with gun violence in America which has individuals disputing whether or not gun regulation should be stopped.
