Human beings can kill animals for their survival and happiness. The reason why we think we can hunt animals freely is that humans are superior to animals. The world I live in is a human-centered society. By this standard, humans live a superior life than animals. Of course, humans are inferior to animals if they are superior in living according to the laws of nature and not contrary to the laws of nature.
However, in reality, humans farm chickens, pigs, and cows and fill the human stomach. Even if these animals think and talk, humans will not think that animals that breed and raise are superior to us. For this reason, our society is in favor of making profits by raising animals for humans or hunting animals that harm humans.
In my country, when people die, usually build tombs around mountains and country villages away from the city. There are many wild boars around these mountains and countryside. If these wild boars do anything that harms the digging of our ancestral tombs, humans should hunt them down to reduce damage. Hunting the wild boars is just as it should be.
Usually, wild boars that have nothing to eat in winter come to people’s farms and make a mess of fields. So the government gives them time to hunt. Without these human efforts, the population of wild boars would increase enormously, which could lead to not only damage to farms but also casualties. In March 2017, in a small town in Korea, boars appeared around cars, not on farms, resulting in traffic accidents.
Fortunately, there were no casualties, but if we do not control the ever-increasing number of wild boars, it will not only damage farms but also have a significant impact on the lives of humans. So the best way is to control their population by hunting wild boars that damage humans for a certain period. Then wild boars will not come from where they live to find food. Hunting is not wrong because both wild boars and humans can coexist.
In April 2018, a B737 aircraft from Southwest Airlines in the U.S. caused an engine explosion and made an emergency landing. On the way to Dallas with 144 passengers on their way to La Guardia Airport in New York, a burst of engines on the left wing of the plane broke the inside window and a 40-something woman eventually died.
Fortunately, the plane attempted to make an emergency landing, which resulted in one casualty. The accident investigation revealed that a collision with a bird, or bird stroke, was the cause of metal fatigue. In other words, a bird that crashed into an airplane can cause a crack to break down due to the constant vibration of metal, such as mechanical devices that spin at high speed, as it sucked into the engine.
Today, many similar accidents happen. So, around the airport, many complementary measures are being taken to prevent ‘birdstrike.’ In particular, they are using shotguns and various sound devices and even using state of the art drones. In Incheon International Airport in Korea, birds are chased away by spreading the sounds of birds fears. Some animal lovers say that this method sometimes violates the space where birds live and can drive them into an extinction crisis. However, human life caused by birds, and humans have huge property damage because of animals such as birds.
These are all facts and things that have already happened in our society. One-day humans can go extinct instead of birds if we do not hunt animals that are harmful to human life. Humans must not be extinct because of the birds. It is not to slaughter birds unconditionally, but to reduce damage by hunting birds that are harmful to humans because humans use and think tools. By controlling animals, humans can make a world where both animals and humans can coexist because humans use and think tools.
In contrast, animals cannot use tools like humans, and they cannot control humans. I would not support animal hunting if animals could control humans. However, it is impossible, and it will not happen.
Sometimes we have to hunt to protect animals that help us. The chicken farm is locked in a chicken coop to be eaten by humans. The chickens will be stressed just by being stuck in a chicken coop. It would also be stressful for pigs to be locked up to get bacon, pork belly, ham. Are they stressed out about being locked up? In my view, they will suffer from different stress if they are free.
On the contrary, let’s assume that pigs and chickens are not kept in captivity. There are many dangerous animals in the wild. For example, there are things like weasels and wolves, and these animals enjoy eating meat and sometimes hunt in groups. Like this, even though humans do not farm chicken pigs, they are exposed to other stress and danger.
However, humans care and protect the animals they breed and breed. That is why there can be a situation where one has to hunt to protect pigs and chickens from wild animals such as wolves and weasels. Besides, it will be hard to walk around in the car as well as in the walk unless pigs and chickens are released all over the town, and humans are hunting animals that eat them anymore. Moreover, meat-eating animals will also roam around cities and towns to hunt them. Then pigs and chickens will be eaten in front of people’s eyes and not only will the places where we live be ruined but pigs and chickens will also be stressed and at risk.
Therefore, let us hunt carnivores to protect the animals we need. Also, if people like food such as ham and bacon and say so, the rationale is not right because the argument and practice are inappropriate. If people oppose cruelty to animals and insist that people should not hunt, people should not get any benefits from using animals. However, that is not realistically possible. Therefore, meat-eating and hunting are the right choices for non-fed animals as well as humans, and they are the way we live.
