Veterans being homeless in all sorts of communities are becoming more common today than ever before. As humans, we turn our heads because we always have some sort of excuse on trying to avoid them on the streets. But what if we didn’t ignore them or be nice to them? We would think we are better people, and they would acknowledge that we care about them. The real question is though, how can we prevent and address homelessness for good?
One of the ways that we can address homelessness is asking them is they have a place to live and if the say no, ask if they want or need any help. By doing this, it makes them feel like someone cares which we should. It also boosts our self-esteem and makes us feel good for helping someone who was in need. By this, the world could be happier, and nobody would become depressed and ruin their life on accident.
Another way that we can address homelessness is realizing that people do go through a lot in their life and not a lot of people can take care of themselves. A lot of people have mental health problems and don’t always either know what they are doing or do not like what they are doing. Most veterans also have post-traumatic stress disorder or PTSD and can’t always handle some of the everyday activities. I feel that if we paid more attention and get them help by counseling, they would know what they are doing and get the help they deserve and be respected more.
One way that us people of America can do to prevent homelessness is listen to what veterans have to say. Try and listen to what they need, or demand could help us understand what we could do to help the homeless veterans in our community. If we did this, the whole country could realize what we either do or don’t do for the veterans in our community. Some people I know just don’t want to worry about it because they have a lot on their minds, but if we took a little bit of our time to listen and try to prevent homelessness, we could help them get better and hopefully soon, to not be homeless.
Another way that we can prevent homelessness in our communities is being kind to one another. Just being kind and helping can go a long way for everybody. If you take a little bit of time out of your day to be kind to someone wherever you are, you could maybe let someone feel better and let them know that they matter is this world to everybody.
In conclusion, ways to help prevent and address homelessness is being kind, helping one another out, and communicating with each other. This way America can be not only safer, but the homeless population could go down in all communities.
