The phrase “cultural diversity” is used to mean the variety of human societies or culture in specific region. Cultural differences exist between the people, such as language, dress and tradition, there are also significant variations in the way societies organize themselves, in their shared conception of knowledge, morality and in the ways they interact with their environment.
Cultural diversity is the quality of diverse or different cultures, as opposed to monoculture or a homogenization of culture. It is having a heart and a mind that acknowledges, accepts, values, and even celebrates the various ways that people live and interact in the world. Cultural diversity is based on the idea that cultural identities should not be discarded or ignored, but rather maintained and valued.
Meaning of education : Etymologically, the word education is derived from educare (Latin) “bring up”, which is related to educere “bring out”, “bring forth what is within”, “ bring out potential” and ducere, “to lead”. Education in the largest sense is any act or experience that has a formative effect on the mind, character or physical ability of an individual. In its technical sense, education is the process by which society deliberately transmits its accumulated knowledge, skills and values from one generation to another and also provides the opportunity for the critical examination.
According to Quinn and Ryba (2,000) an inclusive curriculum is recognition that under the principle of social justice, participation in education should not involve discrimination on the basis of gender, ethnicity, indigenous group, socio- economic status and different abilities. It recognizes the need that schools be organized, with the individual differences of students in mind and allow for scope and flexibility to enable all students to achieve their goals.
This larger aim of education need to reflect in the curriculum and pedagogy of the school. The curriculum is defined as the totality of student experiences that occur in the educational process.
