My name is Brazjae Brown. I am a senior at Northumberland High School. I am also a dual-enrolled student, earning my associate’s degree at Rappahannock Community College. After high school, my aspirations are composed of attending a four-year college or university to obtain a bachelor’s degree. My occupational yearnings consist of one day becoming a successful news anchor or working as a journalist for an entertainment industry such as E News or BET. I am very aware that the need of a college degree in order to obtain a career is certainly increasing. I know that it is possibly that all of my goals could remain dreams without attending college. Consequently, I am exceptionally committed to working remarkably hard in school and remaining focused.

As the workforce progresses, I know it will only become harder to obtain a career with only a high school diploma.

It is almost a necessity to have a college degree now to obtain a well paying job. Research has shown that those with a high school degree or a GED make 40% less per year than graduates with a bachelor’s degree. I take a lot of interest in learning, and I am very excited to potentially be able to further my education. I am from a very small town so branching out to new beginnings has always been a dream of mine. My mother and father were the first generations out of both of their families to attend college. Becoming the second generation would definitely be an honor. It has always been instilled in me that knowledge is power and therefore, the mor
