Dreams we all have those right? Dreams are what we look for to happen in the future and sometimes those dreams even become reality and sometimes they just stay in your mind for pleasure of having a dream. The American Dream is the theory in which supports the idea that equality is possible. Allowing the goals of many to be reached. Is this though, perhaps even the slightest attainable dream?. The American Dream is attainable due to the rights of Americans, capitalism, and democracy.
The American Dream is able to be attained because of basic human rights we Americans have such as life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Rights make the American Dream possible because it provides liberties such as workers rights, property rights, freedom of thought and expression. Workers rights affect the American Dream in a positive way in the sense that we have freedom from discrimination, fair compensation, and the right to education. Rights make the American Dream attainable by balancing the scales as much as possible. From the article , ‘’ Is the American Dream attainable,’’ we see that the rights we have are very much important to the American Dream.
‘’ The American Dream is a set of ideals which promotes success and social mobility through means of hard work and dedication. ‘’ ‘’This is deeply rooted in the Declaration of Independence, which states that “all men are created equal” and have the right to “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness”.
Capitalism, without this we would have no entrepreneurs. Without entrepreneurs we would have destroyed most of our economic growth that is sustained through private business owners. Evidence shows that not everyone needs to go to college. Statistics found from the article Why college isn’t for everyone, ‘’ last year, according to the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, 46 percent of recent college graduates were in jobs that don’t even require a college degree.’’Capitalism plays a big role in the American Dream. Entrepreneurs are what keeps the American Dream alive. Imagine this the state decides your career for you ,who you’ll work for ,and how much money you’ll make. This is what it would look like if we had no capitalism. A great example of how capitalism has an influential part in the American Dream. My father, is an entrepreneur he never went to college and by the world’s standards he’ll never make it. But, my dad decided to take advantage of the American Dream and now he owns a car dealership in Rogersville, a mechanic shop, and real estate. We need capitalism in order to attain the American Dream.
Democracy is another key point to attaining the dream. The reason being is democracy allows you to vote and elect new representatives and without this everyone would be bias. If we didn’t have the right to vote we wouldn’t be able to keep the economy balanced. Also, without democracy we wouldn’t be able to keep elective officials in check. With democracy comes citizens rights, federalism, seperations of power and judicial independence.
Although in order for this American Dream to become reality we have to realize that the American Dream takes work. My father is just one of the many examples of keeping the American Dream alive, without his hard work and determination to become something in life he wouldn’t have achieved the American Dream. As Tommy Hilfiger says, ‘’ the road to success is not easy to navigate, but with hard work, drive and passion, it’s possible to achieve the American Dream.’’
The American Dream is attainable as long as this wonderful country we live in the United States is free. The dream is all what you make of it, if want something bad enough you’ll work hard for it. As said by Brian Tracy, ‘’ All successful people men and women are big dreamers.’’ ‘’ They imagine what their future could be, ideal in every respect, and then they work every day toward their distant vision, that goal or purpose.’’
