Have you ever known someone who has respect and admiration from everybody? It seems like people want to be around them. They are natural leaders and people trust them and follow them. Some of these people include famous historical people such as Galileo, Lincoln, and Churchill. What qualities make these people so admirable? In my opinion, qualities that make a person admirable are honesty, bravery, and unconventionality.
Honesty is one of the most important qualities of an admirable person. If they lie one day it will be exposed and when this happens it will destroy the trust that people have for them. For example, Abraham Lincoln was known as ‘honest Abe’ in his youth. It is said that he once walked three miles to return the extra change accidently taken from a customer while working as a store clerk. It is very difficult to admire a person you don’t trust. Honest people also have a tendency to tell people the things they don’t want to hear but it is important for them to know. Sometimes the truth makes people suffer for a short time but in the long term it will earn a great deal of respect. It is really hard to be honest if you not brave enough.
All admirable people seem to be braver than the average person. This is because doing the right thing sometimes is really hard. Sometimes legal is not always right. For example, the underground railroad was technically a criminal organization but the people who join pursued the right thing even they knew it was a risk. This all needs bravery. It is now these people that are admired, and they didn’t follow the rules. They are brave to ‘right’ a wrong in society.

Admirable people often have an unconventional way of thinking and doing things. They follow what they think is right and not what is popular. People like to follow other people rather than stand out that because they try to avoid trouble but they can’t make people respect and admire them. All great thinkers and leaders had very unconventional personalities and followed their conscience instead of popular belief. For example, Galileo maintained that the Earth was not at the center of the universe. He was condemned by the church and sentenced to house arrest for the remainder of his life, but he is now universally admired and respected.
Three of the most important qualities that make a person admirable are honesty, bravery and unconventionality. Honesty inspires trust and respect, bravery causes people to take unconventional stands, and unconventionality allows people to follow the ‘unused’ path of discovery. These three qualities can make anyone an admirable person.
