The medical field is growing rapidly in today’s society. In the field of Physical Therapy, one needs to have a full understanding of how the human body works and the injuries one’s body can take. I have chosen this career to hopefully be able to help others battle life changing injuries. I will finish the first step towards my career with an associate degree. I will then become a Physical Therapist Assistant. A Physical Therapist Assistant works under the direction and supervision of a Physical Therapist. The PTA’s duties can include assisting in instructing the exercises and activities of daily living, using special equipment, collecting data on the patient’s progress and documenting and reporting the patient’s response.

A Physical Therapist Assistant can work in hospitals, schools, and any therapy locations. There is a ton of information about being a PTA, including their day to day routine, salary, schooling, and employment rates. Everyday being a PTA makes someone who is in lack of physical health feel so much better about themselves. This makes the PTA feel like they’re doing a wonderful job at their job. PTA’s truly give the most loving care to every one of their patients and watch how their bodies respond to the therapy very closely.

The daily routine of a PTA is a lot of work. They begin their day going into a hospital, school or therapy location for work where they see a patient usually every 15 minutes. In many smaller areas the spend up to 45 minutes with each patient. After the PTA takes all notes and records for the patients, the PT reviews everything and both the PTA and the PT come together to decide on the best route for the patient. Most PTA’s usually work an 8 to 5 shift through the week. The last main thing a PTA has to learn is to give a proper and relaxing muscle massage to help the muscle to relive pain and to rub knots out.

I hope to one day become PTA, so I can officially accomplish my goal. I have worked so hard to get where I am today, and I plan to work even harder until I am in a hospital, school, or therapy helping someone and giving the best care possible. This has always been my lifelong dream and I couldn’t be any more excited to try and pursue it. I wouldn’t be where I am right now in my career if I hadn’t had had the best professors and the mighty God above.
