My interest in genetics studies steer me to my choose studying medical genetics through which I will achieve my future career development path as medical genetics encompasses the vast career potential such as clinical diagnostic laboratory activities, genetic counsellors, nutritionists, clinical practice of physicians and research into the causes and inheritance of genetic disorders, which is quite appealing and exciting for me. I would like to purse my undergraduate degree in medical genetics as I was also always been fascinated by clinical diagnostic laboratory activities which involves in the analysis and diagnosis of genetic disorders.

Initially my Biology studies during IGCSE in which the topic like on how human cells work in our daily life built my interest to learn more about cells and I was fascinated to learn and research more about the way genes work and code for proteins and make every single individual unique. One of the most interesting modules in this course which attracted me was cell biology which includes prokaryotic and eukaryotic cell structure, the functions of the cell membrane, the organelles and the nucleus, which also motivated me to choose my undergraduate degree in medical genetics.

After the completion of this course, I shall be able to contribute in the medical field and if deem might further specialize and pursue genetic medicine which incorporates areas such as gene therapy, personalized medicine, and the rapidly emerging new medical specialty, predictive medicine.

I have been watching documentaries related to genetics, the interaction of genotype and how DNA replication give rise to mutations. During my school trip I have also visited hospital laboratory and seen how the technicians work in the laboratory and how the diagnostic procedures undergo. This visit gave me a lot of knowledge for example, how to work in the laboratory, what safety measures to undertake, etc. I was excited that these are the skills which I will learn once I will study medical genetics.

While I was studying my AS level, I was keen that I am going to study medical genetics. After I finished my AS level exam I applied for admission in ONCAMPUS London in the life sciences path way, which will then allow me to pursue my progression degree in medical genetics. In my foundation course I have learned a lot of new things which include English language skills, listening skills and how to write academic essay.

Furthermore, the foundation course that I have done has helped me to improve sharp logical mind techniques. In my biology class I have gained a lot of knowledge about how to write lab reports and how to describe questions in detail which will further help me in my university. In addition, this has given me a lot of confidence and prepared me for my university life ahead. Life sciences foundation course has taught me a lot of stuff related to medical genetics as it covers most of the general topics related to our body, nucleic acids and protein synthesis.

My favourite sport is badminton and I was use to play badminton and I was selected in a school badminton team in which I learned a lot of skills which includes teamwork and leadership. I have also participated in a debate competition in school and this experience has improved my self-confidence. I have worked voluntarily for a charity organisation from which I gained knowledge in how to organise your work properly and how to work in a group of people. In my free time I really love to swim, and I have won a swimming race and got second position. I like and travelled different countries with my parents and being exposed to different cultures, met new people around, this will help me to adjust easily in the university and be independent during my undergraduate studies

Studying medical genetics is my dream and I am really looking forward to study the cells, organs and how genetic mechanism works in the human body. I am ready and excited to take my first step into the medical genetics studies. I will have a bright future ahead as I am very passionate about my choice of study path, I look forward to perform the best in diagnostic research procedures and treat genetic disorders.
