Life lays forth numerous routes for determining the future. This can give you opportunities, and it can profoundly affect you with those opportunities in your life. I moved from India to America, when I was eighteen. This journey has most affected me because I live in a brand-new country that is not like my hometown at all. One aspect I’ve been influenced since coming to America is that the fact that the American culture has totally changed me. Two clear explanation why American culture changed me are explained in this journal.
I moved to the States in 2015 to pursue my undergrad. I enrolled in Bowling Green State University and spent my four years there, switching majors from Computer Science to Graphic Design. I had the best and worst four years of my life as I was away from my family and met my friends who turned family and my soulmate here. All of them are from the same hometown as mine back in India, surprisingly, we met here in the States for the first time. I was influenced by American culture and that moving to America taught me to respect what I have.
One of America’s greatest lifestyle changes is the fact that I live in a brand new, totally different world. I would never have met my new friends who I have been acquainted with since I first came if I had not moved to America. It has influenced me, since I think my peers are describing me. Firstly, America seems to have number of opportunities India doesn’t do, that’s why I guess the things I’ve done here that I couldn’t be willing to do in India have always influenced me, I’m crazy for certain American sports that India has never had, you might tell they’re a major part of my existence… I don’t know if without these sports I’d survive.
Second thing that I experienced which is most important to me is my career. If I wouldn’t have switched my major and pursued Graphic Design here, I am unsure about what I would do in future with my career. There are endless possibilities I could do with my profession while in India it is limited and also the payrate is kind of low along with the availability of the resources in India are low than those in the States. My future will be impacted by the fact that I have a better chance to be successful in America.
