Reasons why people become Elementary Teachers, is to help shape the students lives. Helping the students grow, is important because children are our future. Teachers impact their students lives to provide them the right information and tools for a better, positive future. Watching children go through life is a beautiful thing because kids learn new things and gain confidence. Without any teachers, how could the world function with no education or life lessons. This career allows teachers to change the world one step at a time.

In order to become an Elementary Teacher, there are various requirements that this job needs. This job occupation requires elementary teachers to teach students in the basic subjects, such as reading, science, social studies, and math. In order to teach students a subject, teachers usually create a schedule for the day. Important qualities to have are communication skills, patience, physical stamina, and resourcefulness.

Experienced teachers help serve as mentors to the people who are trying to learn how to become one so, they sometimes they take over for the teacher to see how well they can teach a lesson. In these roles, they help less experienced teachers to improve their teaching skills or either help other students on work that has been given to them.

The need for workers to major in this field, it is projected to grow by 7% in the years 2016-2026, but it will depend on the region. The median annual wage for elementary teachers is $57,160. A good benefit that’s associated with this job is that teachers have a 10-month school year with a 2-month break that is in the summer so, whenever the students have any type of holiday break, so do the teachers which is a nice thing to have. Kindergarten and elementary school teachers generally work during school hours when students are present and some even stay after school to help out others with things such as homework.

A very much needed qualification, to be able to major in this career, is a bachelor’s degree. Public school teachers must have a state-issued certification or license to be able to major in this degree to assure schools that they received the proper education that’s required to be able to employ them. All states require teachers in public schools to be licensed or certified in the grade level that they want to teach. There’s no need for any other type of higher education in this major, only the study of a specific content area such as English & Math.

A university that provides a major in teacher education is the University of La Verne. University of La Verne is a private institution founded in the year 1891. Its total of undergraduate enrollment is 2,809, with a suburban setting, and the campus size is 66 acres. La Verne ranks in the top 40% nationwide for overall educational quality, it is also one of the most expensive universities to attend.

To be able to attend this college, freshmen must complete the A-G requirements and pass their classes with a C- or better. The cost of the education is $38,266 for the tuition. For on campus housing for room and abroad, it’s $12,890 and meals for $6,110. As for off campus housing room and abroad, it’s $12,492. Supplies are $3,268 for people on campus and $4,258 for those who are off campus. Those who are on campus have a total of $17,949 and off campus expense total is $18,541.

Another great university to attend to major in education is California State Baptist University. California Baptist University is a private institution founded in the year 1950. Its total undergraduate enrollment is 6,937, in a suburban setting, and the campus size is 160 acres. This university is 10% more expensive than the national average private non-profit four year college tuition of $26,851. The cost is 36% more expensive than the average California tuition of $21,759 for a 4 year college.

Freshmen requirements is to fill out one of the applications with a 3-5 paragraph essay, send in any official transcripts from high school, and either send in SAT or ACT scores of any choice. The education cost is $31,668 but, tuition for out of state is $16,632 and in the state is $5,472. On campus room and board is provided by the school at a cost of $8,120 per year. Supplies cost $13,800 for all students. As for other fees, out of state and in the state pay $988.

One other university that has education as a major is the University of Long Beach. California State University of Long Beach is a public institution founded in the year 1949. Its total undergraduate enrollment is 32,246, with a urban setting area, and the campus size is 322 acres. It is also one of the best colleges in Regional Universities West. With its location overlooking the Pacific Ocean, it offers students a mix of academic and outdoor life.

Freshmen must have A-G requirements completed while passing classes with a C or higher, graduate high school by the end of the Spring term prior to Fall enrollment, and send SAT or ACT scores. The tuition is $9,504. Those off campus pay $5,418 for housing while those who are off campus pay $14,090. Supplies cost $2,002 for all those that attend. All other costs are a total of $14,712.

From analyzing these universities, there are good advantages to decide which one students would like to attend. University of Long Beach is a public school while La Verne and California Baptist University are both private schools. CSULB tuition and fees is cheaper ($6,524), California State Baptist University is average ($32,256), and University of La Verne is the more expensive ($41,450). It may also depend on how far some would like to travel to. When people decide on which college to attend, they go on college tours to find more information or speak to college representatives who visit your high school.When narrowing down your options, just know that transferring is another option to consider.
