Date rape is an act of forcefully having a sexual intercourse with a person you go on a date with without his or her consent. According to “U.S department of justice” 84% of women knew who raped them, 57% of rape happened on a date. Men can be raped just like women are being raped as well while on a date. Research has proven that women fall victim of date rape the most because they are vulnerable.
According to “womenshealth.gov’’ women are the main victim of rape and 1 in 4 college women are raped while 1 in 10 college men are raped. Also 42% of these rape victims do not report to the police or told no one due to fear of being killed or fear of being stigmatized by the society.
In addition, ‘’according to women’s center of Houston” 53% of cases involve drugs and alcohol which sometimes are a significant factor especially in date rape and acquaintance rape cases. There are quite number of drugs rapists use on their victims such as Rohypnol which can be gotten on the counter in any pharmacy store, it is a sedative that comes inform of a pill that would be placed in a victim’s drink while on a date, it causes drowsiness which makes the victim to be unaware of what is going on around them and this enable the rapist to perpetrate his/her evil act without the victim being aware because the drug stays in the body for several hours.

Also the use of alcohol to rape is also rampant among the youths, they cajole or persuade their dates to keep on taking the alcohol till they get drunk, tipsy, and drowsy and they forcefully rape them.
Furthermore, in order to prevent date rape, youths, college students need to be sensitize, and admonish on how to be vigilant whenever they are on dates.
