I choose body image as my research topic because the body image of women is a very hot topic these day. Body image refers to people’s judgments about their own bodies. It is formed as people compare themselves to others.
Because people are exposed to countless media images, media images become the basis for some of these comparisons. I watched a show called The Face Thailand and was horrified at the bodies of those young women. You could literally see the bones jutting out all over. All around the world, women suffer from trying to impress other people and themselves with body image. Yes, majority try to change their appearance and personal character by trying to impress other. They worry that their thighs are too flabby, their breasts are too small, their arms are too scrawny, their face is too chubby, their body build is too small. Many women have extremes plastic surgeries and many other types of extreme make- overs. In today’s society there are a lot of famous plastic surgeons that can do anything from breast augmentation to dramatically changing the look and shape of ones face.
Plastic surgeons make nearly $200,000 or more a year. They enjoy making people feel beautiful on the outside and help them gain their self esteem. Plastic surgeries are very expensive, however there are a lot of people who willing to take out loans just to make themselves look better and to impress others. Today society, it is not just the celebrities who is getting plastic surgery done, people who want to feel and look beautiful are now following in the footsteps of many celebrities. Plastic surgery has become so popular that some parents are even getting their children breast augmentation, facial treatment or other kind of surgeries as a graduation gift.
