An aging society will have a huge impact on the future of health care delivery. The aging population is not only America but the world is growing very quickly. According to WHO, the number of individuals who are 65 years of age or older is expected to grow to nearly 1.5 billion by 2050, the amount of the aging population is expected to surpass and outnumber the number of children under the age of five. An aging society will both positively and negatively impact the future of health care delivery because it will increase the need for nursing aids and caregivers, but it will decrease the working population and

With the rise of an aging society, there is an ever-increasing demand for health care professionals in the United States and several other countries. This is mostly due to the increased awareness about the health of the increased number of elderly individuals and an overall increase in the population. In the earlier days, the elderly used to stay home and rely on the care of a younger sibling or family member but that has definitely changed and many are now living at nursing homes.

While some are dependent on extended family members, they don’t unfortunately always have time for them or the ability to care for them and they end up at nursing homes or assisted living facilities as well. Chronic illnesses or conditions are pretty much inevitable in older adults and it usually results in disabilities that require complete dependence on other people’s care. Since the elderly are very dependent on nursing homes and other elderly living places, the demand for health care professionals such as caregivers and nursing aids continues to increase and is expected to grow a lot more shortly.

The percent of elderly people in America increases the population which isn’t really a good thing. Most of them can’t work so it means that the number of working people decreases so therefor the tax generation decreases. Because of that Medicaid and medicare services are prolonged which forces the government to compensate it financially and the increasing number can negatively affect the economical growth in the US. Even though an aging population positively affects health care delivery by providing many jobs, it also negatively affects it. The increase in chronic diseases such as Alzheimer’s and heart disease needs more health workers in the future but the number of working people such as nurses and doctors will decrease because long term care facilities and nursing homes will become a lot more important.

Thanks to the many discoveries in health care aging individuals will get the help and care that they need. Hospitals and other health care centers should be well equipped with adequate staff and technicians to provide the elderly with the care they need and deserve. It is very important to occupy hospitals and other care centers with enough doctors, nurses, and other medical staff to meet the increasing demands of the aging population.
