The right to life is the most basic and important right that we have, or at least should have. Through a procedure called abortion, each day throughout our world medical professionals are suctioning thousands of babies from their mothers’ wombs. Within the 21 days into the fetal development the baby’s heart begins to beat, but yet in most people’s eyes the baby is still not ‘technically alive’ and that heart beat means nothing to them. The thought of abortion has become a conflicting issue during the past several years due to its tremendous rate of increase. Abortion should never be the solution, there are other alternative choices instead of getting an abortion.

No civilized society permits one human to intentionally harm or take the life of another human without punishment, and abortion is no different (Thoughtco). It only punishes the unborn child who committed no crime; instead, it is the perpetrator who should be punished(coursehero). If murder is defined as deliberately killing another person not in self-defense or without any extenuating circumstance recognized by the law, then abortion brings no difference to it. Many get horrified by stories in the news of parents who murder their own children, and abortion is no different.

In the moment where the sperm meets the egg there is a chance for life and it should be treated as a live child from that point on. Since the brain, heart, and nerves have been developed with the first few weeks, a baby is able to feel death just as any other human would. It’s only being cruel and painful to the fetus, and the procedures in late term abortions, especially, are barbaric and brutal. Once the embryo exists it should have the rights of any other person under the law making it a viable, living, entity. In many states, if a person murders a pregnant woman and the fetus dies also, he/she is charged with two counts of murder, not just one.

Mother Theresa said that “A direct killing of an innocent child, is murder by the mother herself” and “If we can accept that a mother can kill her own child, how can we tell other people to not kill one another?” (lifedefender). It’s true that women have the right over their body, but when it has to do with taking a little innocent human beings life from something that deserves a chance, all it counts for is as murder. A woman’s right to privacy ends if it means harming another individual, even though the pregnancy takes place within the womens body. Which only guarantees further stress emotionally for the victimized woman in the future. Although some women have felt relief after an abortion, many have also suffered from Post Abortion Stress with symptoms of anger, guilt, flashbacks, sexual dysfunction, suicidal thoughts, hallucination, and increase of drug or alcohol use. These facts alone are clear evidence that abortions are too dangerous for a woman and her child.

As a result some women have strongly regretted their decision, forever feeling the guilt and pain of this wrong choice. And most of them who have had multiple abortions have continued to as a form of birth control. Abortion has supposedly been legalized for the purpose of preventing child abuse. This decision was made in the Roe vs. Wade case.(History) But why would legalizing the death of children help child abuse in any way? In addition it didn’t help child abuse ratings one bit. The only thing abortion is doing is freeing the mother (if you can even call her a mother), from all responsibilities. So if you are not ready for the responsibility then don’t take the risk. Some people view abortion as an easy way to avoid having a baby.

Therefore, they mate whenever they want. Then, if they notice a pregnancy, they’ll go to the hospital. It sounds very easy; however, it sounds more like the lack of responsibility for their behavior. To rely on just abortion means to not have responsibility for oneself. So it really all goes back to, if one is mature and responsible enough to make the decision in taking the risk, then they should be mature enough in accepting the consequences and at least try to give the child the best life possible. There are better solutions out there for not only the pregnant lady but as well as for the baby.

Some may say they are not financially fit to raise a child. But in America there are many programs in every state, city and county which aid you in various ways. From education to healthcare. Programs in which offer job assistance, cash grants, job training, child care and many other programs that can be used to help those who are in a financially unstable position. And in the instances of rape and incest, proper medical care can ensure that a woman will not get pregnant (Thoughtco). But in the occurrences of pregnancies from rape victims where it is possible, it becomes very rare that pregnancies due to rape will occur. And while rape should be treated from abortion, rape is an act of violence whereas an abortion makes it an act of violence towards the unborn.

Such sympathy should be given to those who have gotten pregnant through rape, but giving another act of violence does not solve the problem. A rapist is taking a moment of their victims life, while people who decide on an abortion is taking the babies whole life away. If having a child will interfere in their lives so much then they should share the gift of a newborn with a couple whom are unable to have children of their own. Then at least the mother can move on and the child isn’t deprived of its right to live, giving them a better chance at a happier life. And with 1.5 million American families wanting to adopt a child, there is a no such thing as an unwanted child.

Choosing to have an abortion is simply just choosing to be selfish to oneself. And if it were illegal, women would view sexuality much more seriously. It’s not right to live in a world where it’s perfectly okay in killing a child before it can be given a chance at life to the world. Abortion is just simply unethical, immoral, and last but not least, murder overall. People shouldn’t take the life of an innocent baby just because of their wrong doings or mistakes in getting pregnant or even worse just because they want to. Abortion only kills every chance, opportunity and everything that the child has in its future. Whether it’s death from birth difficulties or even becoming into a successful person. Every child deserves a chance. So why should these babies be counted as different when really they deserve every wonderful thing they could be given!
