Walt Disney, the Creator of the Walt Disney Company, was well known for his ideas. He was named ‘an idea Creator’ due to his ability to consider extraordinary thoughts. His thoughts are what at last enabled him to be successful in his career. Walt was born on December 5th 1901 in Chicago, Illinois, and he died at the age of 65 during the year of 1966. His four brothers later on in life helped him make the Disney company a success. In 1906, Walt’s parents were tired of life in Chicago and wanted to move closer their family. Their family lived on a farm outside of Marceline, Missouri. While living in Missouri, he went to Park Elementary school. The small-town life of Marceline had a tremendous impact on Walt in a positive way. Because of that he began to draw animals and bring out his imagination. The time he has spent living the rural type of lifestyle has affected him throughout his career. After four amazing years of living on the farm, sadly it came to an end. It came to an end because after four years the farm was not profitable and his father became ill. In the year of 1907, they head to Kansas City. Roy and Walt helped their father by delivering newspapers around town 7 day a week and they woke up at 3:30 am every day to do this. These responsibilities did not keep Walt from living his life and having fun. On Saturday mornings, he attended Kansas City art institute, and preformed skits and vaudeville with his friends at local theaters. In 1917, he started McKinley high school and began to draw for the student newspaper. From then on he tried living off his biggest lie ever told which was lying about his age. The reason he lied about his age was because he wanted to join the Red Cross ambulance corps in Europe after WWI. In 1918, he headed to France for 9 months, He drove supply trucks and ambulances and chauffeured officers. Walt Disney was a turning point in history because set the tone that all animation and film makers Should be at. Disney was a very creative person and had many great ideas for his companies. He discovered many characters that one looked up to as a child. He still affects the world today because after he died his company still went to bigger things and made many children happy.
Walt Disney made an impact on many families and children in the world. His films and animations bring great spirits and joy to many families because he continued to make films during hard times for many people and watching these films during hard times made many children happy. As Walt Disney once said, “We keep moving forward, opening new doors and doing new things, because we’re curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.” (cite quote). Just like Walt did through all his hard times and rough patches, he kept continuing doing what he loves which is making films and animations. That is what he wants everyone else to do, look for eye-opening experiences, having a positive attitude and taking new opportunities to the next level. This quote is not only speaking towards adults but, children and teenagers too. He set standards of beauties and masculinity for children all over the world, and exposed them to experiences of death, loss, villainy, kindness, love, sadness and happiness at a very young age. His animations and cartoons are funny and cute but, he has a purpose behind each and everyone of them. He wanted to teach kids how to experience life in a calming way. How he did that was, he incorporated life events like death and birth into his films to teach kids in a kid friendly way. One of Walt’s fan’s state “Also, he created Disneyland, the “Happiest Place on Earth”, where many families go to just enjoy being together. He, as my hero, truly cared about others, and made an enormous impact on everyone he met because of the morals he established for himself. He has shown the world the importance of always making time for the people closest to you, to cherish the happy memories, because you don’t know when your life will end.” (Cite Quote). Disneyland was not only made everyone ecstatic but, it made people realize how lucky they are to be living in this outstanding life. Yes, things may get hard and one might just want to cry. But, when you come to disneyland and look around one will realive they couldn’t have gotten any luckier to be living in the life they are living. Another thing is Walt showed people how important it is to spend time with the people closest to you and for he was a true hero and people really looked up to him because of the admirable values he had.
Something that many working men struggle with is balancing work and family. Although Walt was an incredibly busy individual, on Saturdays he would always take his two girls out for the day. He sat and ate peanuts while he watched his girls on the carousel. He had two daughters and they were both very important to him and He loved reading to them every night. Despite his busy schedule, he was a constant example, showing us the importance of balancing work and family. Putting his career on the line, Walt would still choose family which is something that many working parents still need to learn. This quote shows Walt’s amazing values “Instead of socializing with the most famous people in show business, Walt Disney chose to stay home with his family. Walt knew the truly important things in life, and never hesitated to give them time”(cite quote). The most famous person in the filming career could be in town but if that means he has to miss out on family time well, guess he is not going to be meeting him. He would put anything on the line for his wife and children because he had great values and learned how to balance family time and work which is a very important skill that everyone should learn. Walt never got caught up in the fame and adoration of others, as most celebrities do. He never neglected his family or friends for business, even though he was so busy. His daughter, Diane Disney Miller, once said: “Daddy had never missed a father’s function no matter how I discounted it. I’d say, “Oh Daddy, you don’t need to come. It’s just some dumb thing.” But he’d always be there, on time.” (cite quote). No matter if it was the smallest and stupidest function on earth, he would still be there to support his children no matter what because he cared a lot about being the best father he could be.
On July 18, 1957, Disney opened Disneyland in Anaheim, California, the most successful enjoyment park in history, with 6.7 million people touring it by 1966. The thought for the park got through to him after taking his children to other leisure parks and observing them have fun on enjoyment rides. He determined to construct a park where the entire household can make many exciting memories together have exciting together. In 1971 Disney World in Orlando, Florida, opened. Since then, Disney theme parks have opened in Tokyo, Japan, and Paris, France. Disney also dreamed of developing a city of the future, a dream that got through to him true in 1982 with the opening of Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow. EPCOT, which cost an initial $900 million, used to be deliberate as a real-life neighborhood of the future with the very latest in technology. All these ideas of his helped him create world history.
