This letter is regarding my mother Angela Benoit-Rosa an inmate at the Maryland Correctional Institution for Women,
Dear Parole Board,
My name is Leland Rosa and I am writing to respectfully explain how my mother, Angela Benoit-Rosa, needs to come home to her family.
My mother, Angela Benoit-Rosa is a mother of 3 and one of them is me, these past 3 months my mother has been incarcerated at Maryland Correctional Institution for Women has been hard for the family and it has affected me in so many ways. My mother has taught me from my rights and wrongs and she doesn’t deserve any of this yes my mother has committed a crime that ended her up in prison she did it for the family stealing credit cards, and shoplifting isn’t the way but it was for us when we were in need of food she made sure that we had food on the table for dinner and nobody was there to help us so decided to make those choices. My mother Angela Benoit-Rosa is hard-working, kind, diligent, intelligent, and she is caring.
Sadly, my mother Angela Benoit-Rosa has a criminal record she pleaded guilty to credit card fraud, and shoplifting. My mother has made some bad choices but she did it for her family when we didn’t have anything at all we were evicted from three of our houses already we’ve been through so much with my mother only working and my father not having a job it was pretty hard and now that my father has to do this alone and my mother is suffering in that place she cannot control anything that’s happening on the outside even though my mother has committed some crimes in her life she is not a bad person my mother is a hard-working, and strong independent woman.
My mother Angela Benoit-Rosa accepts full responsibility for her crimes. Though my mother has been involved in the GED Program the prison offered, she is doing the church program that was offered to her. My mother Angela Benoit-Rosa is involved with the community at our church Mount Jezreel Baptist Church she is in the choir, she participated in the program where she donated shoes and winter coats for the homeless, and she has her class which is a class for people to learn Spanish. My mother was very involved with the church she loved to be there and she loves to spend time with her family.
My mother Angela Benoit-Rosa has been eligible for home detention when she is released and she goes to see parole in December and I hope it’s sooner because we need my mother home it has been very chaotic since she’s been gone she was the one who kept everything and order and made sure we were alright. My mother Angela Benoit-Rosa plans to get a job and my family has been finding some jobs for her when she is released and my mother plans to take therapy sessions with a therapist, and my mother Angela Benoit-Rosa plans to not commit any more crimes when she is released.
Through all of this, my mother Angela Benoit-Rosa deserves to be home with her family she needs to be able to care for us, provide for us, and love us. Angela Benoit-Rosa is not a bad person, she is the best mother anyone can ask for no matter what she did, I still love her we all do and the fact that she’s gone hurts us plenty and the most important part is that her family needs her to be there with them to comfort them, she has been there for three months suffering just like the rest of us and she doesn’t need all this stress we just need her home.
Sincerely,
Leland Rosa
