Values are a condition and a result of learning. They are a condition of learning because although cognitive variables are necessary for learning, they are not enough. It is also necessary for the presence of some motivational variables among which are the attitudes that are responsible for the activation, direction, and persistence of the behavior.
Values are correct actions that society has established over time and actions are the particular way of each person to act in certain situations, these can be correct or negative.
There have always been more important issues than others for human beings. Therefore, we value people, ideas, activities or objects, according to the meaning they have for our life. However, the criterion with which we give value to these elements varies over time, throughout history, and depends on what each person assumes as their values.
Some of the values that every human being should put into practice to be able to have a good attitude are:
- Respect
- Humility
- Honesty
- Self-control
- Loyalty
- Fidelity
- Justice
- Responsibility
- Tolerance
- Peace
Teaching values in school, home and work is the best way to fully develop the personality of people and prepare them for life. The values are correct actions to act, however for these to really acquire a value an importance must be applied in all the actions that the individual performs in their daily life, otherwise they are only words, words that will disappear. In this way we prove that values are related to actions insofar as values are needed to act in a good way and values are acquired in order to acquire value and importance, values-based attitudes are needed.
Values are not worth anything to be written in a book to talk about them in lectures, in being marked in a box, values acquire their value only when they are applied in the actions of people, when people have attitudes positive in their daily lives and not only in their words give a good personality of the person who puts it into practice.
In matters of morality, facts, actions, attitudes are what is really worth the words. With good attitudes we can say that we are people integrated into values and good actions, to miss an aspect is incomplete the positive effect that is intended to achieve with the application of values; the one of a personal and collective well-being that avoids unnecessary conflicts to accede to the progress.
When you have a situation, the values can come out for our pleasure or for our interest, although sometimes they are put into practice more spontaneously when it is out of desire, chivalry, friendship, love, and respect. In organizations, values allow their members to interact harmoniously. They influence their formation and development as people and facilitate achieving goals that would not be possible individually.
For the welfare of a community, it is necessary that there are shared norms that guide the behavior of its members. Otherwise, the community fails to function satisfactorily for the majority. When we feel that in the family, school, work, and in society in general, there are malfunctions, often due to the lack of shared values, which is reflected in a lack of coherence between what is said and what done.
For example, it is difficult to know how to teach children the value of tolerance, if our leaders and rulers permanently insult all those with whom they have differences of opinion. It is also uphill to promote respect value if there are teachers, teachers, heads or parents who, faced with complex situations, defend their decisions arguing that they are older.
In practical terms, it is unlikely that a community will work well if the people that make it up are not based on certain principles that permanently guide their way of relating, in good times and in bad.
With the word community, I mean the couple, the family, the work, the classroom, the condominium, the neighbors, the city, the country and any other instance of relationship with other people. If we do not share their values we will not feel good, nor will we function properly in that community. Nor will it make us happy to be part of it.
For the authoritative culture of an organization, values are the premise of the states of mind, inspirations, and desires for its laborers. Qualities are the foundation of their practices. On the off chance that the qualities don’t have normal implications for all representatives, day by day work turns out to be more troublesome and difficult.
The workplace ends up tense, individuals work with the inclination that not all line a similar way and clients pay dearly. As mainstays of an organization, values shouldn’t simply be characterized. The organization must keep up, advance and scatter them continually. Just along these lines will their specialists have a superior chance to comprehend their implications and set them in motion in their day by day assignments.
The values are great support so that our attitudes are as positive as possible, the development of these positive attitudes will contribute a lot to your personality. The fact that there are many values does not mean that we should disregard those that are sometimes not put into practice. We must think very well how to carry them out so that in the development of the values they contribute to the personal attitude.
Finally, it only remains to say that values only acquire value and importance when they are applied, when we manage positive attitudes based on them. You cannot believe that a person possesses values by the simple fact of knowing them, it is necessary to apply them at all times with all people regardless of the situation.
It is important to note that the values that are most easily inculcated are those that are demonstrated by example. On the contrary, it is difficult to try to inculcate a value that in practice is continually disdained. In this sense, it is necessary to recognize that on many occasions there is a clear defect on the part of the parents, who tend to behave very far from what is preached. It is important to have a high degree of responsibility in this aspect since minors lack analysis tools like those of an adult.
Adolescence is the period in which many of these values are questioned, a circumstance that leads to an erratic behavior without a doubt. This period is not only expected but also necessary for the constitution of a developed person. Indeed, it is during these moments that the critical spirit of the person begins to act, putting in the balance that values of the past must be maintained and to what extent, an evaluation that will lead to growth as a person and the definitive step to adulthood.
