In the United States as in many other countries, inequality between men and women is one of the most important problem in sociology. Males and females are raised in different ways and they perceive dissimilar environments throughout their lives. As a result, it leads to unlike paths before they can choose their own. There are some culture and The color blue is often associated with boy, while girls are more introduced to the color pink.

Also, some sociologists confirm that people separate by gender when they interact with others. Because of individuals’ clothing, choice of behavior, hairstyles, body language, people may recognize male and female (Essential of Sociology. Women and men are not only divide in two categories by their physical differences of bodies, but they also unequal in ways gender, race, poverty, and parental status.

Nowadays, men wield enormous power over many aspects of women’s lives. In the public sphere, as heads of states and government, as leaders of political organization, men design rules that influencing women’s needs. Despite the fact that in the United States women have progress in education and work, the gender inequalities still exist. Studies show that in job interviews where men and women have the same qualifications, one gender gets more offers then other. Sociologists point it as the sex segregation when men and women occupying different jobs positions because of their gender.

Sex segregation often cause the gender gaps in earnings. Some statistics show that women in the United States still make only about 80% of what men earn for full time work. According to the Transamerica Center for Retirement Studies, American women in 2017 held $42,000 in median retirement savings, compared to $123,000 for men. Some 21 percent of women and 12 percent of men have less than $10,000 in retirement accounts. The gender pay gap means women end up with fewer post-retirement resources

The other aspect of gender inequality is combination gender and racial discrimination. It faced by many women in the world based of their color of skin, sex, and class position. Proponents of black feminism think that black women are substantially different ways from white women (Essential of Sociology). For example, many years ago, black women were often confined to the worst working conditions, which were not much of an improvement over more overt forms of slavery.

Also, they often were confined to domestic labor where they were experienced violence at the hands of male employers. Black feminists argue about the ways that black women, who were legally freed from slavery, are still oppressed with heavy, low paying, not prestigious jobs as household. Also, women with black color of skin experience particularly high levels of poverty, unemployment, and other economic hardships more often than white women. Despite the fact, that today many black women graduated from colleges, not all are able to occupy high-ranking professions.

There is also important gender difference in the parental status, especially in living with children. Women are more likely to be lone parents than men, while men are more likely to live as part of a couple. Throughout history, women’s roles in society have been different than those of men’s. Women’s jobs were generally linked to their traditional roles of caring for the homes, raising children, and cooking, while men were the wage earner in the families. There is opinion that women had been brought up to become mothers, while men were brought up to become leaders of different organizations.

Child care is a stereotypically feminine activity, and marks a less traditional family role for fathers. Also, many feminists claim about unequal domestic division of labor, that exist in many families. According to the feminist assertions, women continue to bear the main responsibility for housework and child care more than men. Moreover, today, women are working outside the home more than even before, so their working hours are about fifteen hours per day (Essential of Sociology). The family inequality often leads to misunderstanding between partners, which in turn has a negative flow to the child’s life.

Inequalities between men and women are one of the most determined patterns in the distribution of power. Gender differences are encountered at work, in home, and in state institutions. Despite on the facts and history, woman need to stand up for themselves. They must deserve to get paid as much as men if they are doing the same tasks. When men and the women will equally separate their parental responsibilities, the gender inequality may decrease.
