As I look and stare into the eyes of the opposing keeper and giving the perferct strike on the multi-colored soccer ball, striking it with so much power that is flies straight to the 90 degree angle of the rectangular soccer post. The over-whelming joy that hovers throughout my body knowing that we just won the game. This is what drives me and fuels my passion for the sport. To people soccer is just a sport or even or hobby , but for me it affects every part of my life

Soccer is definitely the world’s most famous sport. It dates back to 3,000 years ago and is played all around the world. For people who think that soccer is silly because all you do is kick and chase a ball around ….it’s more than that. Soccer brings the whole world together and brings out the compassion within the soul. Everyone, from all around the globe, gets to come together and cheer and support their team as one. Not only that, but they get to share in the love with the prodigious sport.

When I was old enough to understand soccer better, I decided to keep playing because it was fun first of all, but also because of my family. When my family is at my games, they are really supportive of me. That’s what makes me really happy. I also think that my brother inspired me a little because he also plays soccer. When my brother and I were younger, and it was a nice day outside, we would go out and kick the ball around. Sometimes my dad would join too. Even today my dad kicks the ball around with me and that’s really fun! As for my mom, she doesn’t play soccer, but she comes to my games and cheers me on. I can tell she likes to see me play.

Another reason why I love soccer is because it takes a lot of team effort. So much you wouldn’t even imagine. If one person doesn’t try on the team or doesn’t give 110% your whole team loses. There is no I in team and that was the first thing I learned during my soccer career. Team effort is what I love, because you have to work with your team and communicate with every one to take the ball up the field and score.

When High soccer tryouts started, I played my heart out. I worked all summer for this tryout and I was not going to fail. I had some thoughts that this kid or that kid was better than me, but I quickly expelled those thoughts from my head. When tryouts ended and I saw the roster, I looked for my name. I finally saw my name at the very bottom of the list. We practiced every day after school. I would practice on my own on the weekends. When I was walking to the field for my first game, I thought to myself “God I love this sport”. I believe that because I see soccer as a part of who I am, it is not just a sport, it is a passion.
