I think that college athletes should get paid because they work as hard as professional athletes do and sometimes maybe just even harder. According to the NCAA convention, coaches can only take 20 hours aweek of their players’ time. I think 20 hours a week is quite a lot. These athletes have to do agonizing workouts to stay fit and be healthy to be able to play in their sport. Not only do these athletes have to dodreadful workouts and practices 20 hours a week they also have to keep up with their school work.
According to the NCAA Eligibility requirements it says that “you must complete 16 core courses, earn a minimum 2.000 core-course GPA. Being focused in the game during game days and keeping focused In the books in class and at night when studying is even harder combining the two. The college athletes also have to pay for personal things and for things for their particular sport.
According to the 2013-2014 guideline handbook by NCAA it says that “Meals and lodging directly tied to competition and practice held in preparation for such competition, Transportation (i.e., expenses to and from practice and competition, cost of transportation from home to training/practice site at the beginning of the season and from training/practice site to home at the end of the season, Apparel, equipment and supplies related to participation on the team, Coaching and instruction, use of facilities and entry fees, Health/medical insurance, medical treatment and physical Therapy, and Other reasonable expenses (e.g., laundry money).”
This proves my point, college athletes have to not only put in 20 hours or less of practice a week, and get good grades in school but they also have to pay for a lot of things. Putting a lot of weight on their back. having to do all these things, there is no way that there is enough space for a joband these athletes need to get mad from somewhere.
