Pool Palace’s SWOT analysis goal is to identify traits and characteristics within the company that will prove to help make the establishment a success. Pool Palace is mid-south indoor water park that has countless advantages. Pool Palace offers a variety of water activities, sports and amusements which makes it the ideal destination for people of all ages. Pool Palace is the only facility of its kind in a 6 hour radius of Memphis, Tn.
With reasonable admission cost Pool Palace is able to compete on a regional and even national level with its competitors. Water parks are usually associated with summer fun because of the warmer weather. However, here at Pool place the fun never stops because of the change of seasons because the park operates year round. At Pool Palace aims to create an environment where consumers can come and enjoy themselves without the hassle of worrying about losing their space or seating area.
Therefore, at an additional cost, Pool Palace offers pool side service and reserved cabana rentals. Upon the purchase of an adult admission ticket, the park offers 1-day parking in their insulated and secure garage. Here at Pool Palace we love to see children striving to do well. So, we offer a “Good Student” incentive once a year to student whom earn an S or better in conduct in all of their classes. Lastly, Pool Palace strives to make every customer fell like they are special and one of a kind because the customers determine the success of the business. Therefore, we offer fast and friendly customer service to keep out customers coming back for more.
Weaknesses
Pool Palace is however challenged with a few weaknesses. However, these are feats that ownership and management can overcome with effective and efficient planning and course of action. For example, Pool Palace is a costly venture and will need the right employees in position to make the park a success. The park aims to create jobs for local people. However, not all of the locals will be qualified or certified for the new jobs that the park will create. Therefore, the company may have to hire people from outside of the Memphis area. Then, the location is in an underdeveloped community which may initially deter customers from wanting to visit.
Also, waterborne illnesses are a concern. Due to Pool Palace being a water park there are only some many thing that the company can control, we can have the water filtered and treated with chlorine. However, unenviably someone will discard their urine or fecal matter in the pool and because the chlorine does not instantly kill germs, there is a chance that a customer(s) could become sick after leaving the park due to a waterborne illness. Correspondingly, due to the warm nature of the facility bacteria of any kind is more susceptible to grow and spread rapidly.
Therefore, all area of the park must be monitor and clean thoroughly. Other weaknesses include customer accidentals such as falls or possible drowning and this is just due to the water environment/ nature of the park. The up keep of the park which includes but is no limited to; the employee’s pay, routine maintenance to keep or stay with Tennessee state guidelines and unexpected breakdowns and cost. Lastly, during the peak season due to high demand limited local competition attraction lines may be longer causing attraction wait times to be higher.
Opportunities
Opportunities in Pool Palace SWOT analysis takes a look at external factors that enhances the company’s ability to succeed and grow. For example, Pool Palace will developed in an under developed community. The goal is to help encourage and bring more businesses and developers to the community. Also, by building Pool Palace in the city in an under developed community, Pool place has the ability to create new job for the local economy while helping to decrease the local unemployment rate.
The city of Memphis is predominantly made up of African-Americans and studies show that there are “68.9% of African-American children with no or low ability to swim” (Rohrer). Pool Palace has the opportunity and ability to lower that number by creating an instructional swim program (s) for the local community. But, while Memphis is predominantly made up of African-Americans our goal is to inclusive and promote diversity and togetherness. So, Pool Palace will employ people whom are bilingual and of all different, shapes, creed, size, races and age. The goal is to ensure that everyone feels like Pool Palace is a place that they can have fun.
Pool Palace is the only facility of its kind in a 6 hour radius. Therefore, Pool Palace has the opportunity attract tourist from all over the region and gain regional dollars while retaining local dollars. Also to increase customer base and profits Pool Palace is able to offer Annual and seasonal passes to consumers. Lastly, Pool Palace has the opportunity to collaborate with local business and foundation to host event while boosting the Pool Palace brand.
Threats
Pool Palace SWOT analysis brings up the threats that could prevent the company from thriving or being competitive. Accidents can and will happen but an accident such as a serious injury or drowning could be damaging or fatal to the company. Most times park accidents happen they are minor. However, if it is major accident and the company is at fault there is a possibility that Pool Palace could attract negative headlines or possible lawsuit(s).
While the price of admission into Pool Palace is reasonable, a hefty percentage of the park’s profits will come from the sale on Pool Palace’s food and goods. However, customer smuggling outside food into the facility can and will take away from Pool Palace’s profits.
People are always looking for the next best thing. When Pool Palace is first introduced it will be new, fun and exciting but over time people will lose interest and begin seeking out the next best thing. Therefore, Pool Palace must constantly remain innovative because the lack of updates and technological advancements could be the downfall of the company. Lastly, the success of Pool Palace could possible draw competitors to the area once they realize how lucrative the area. This could also cause the park to lose profits.
