A man who was wrongly convicted and rose above all the corruption of Shawshank and grew in a place were many failed and broke it represents freedom and hope for all of the inmates.
All of the inmates in shawshank have to fight for there place to live and if they fail they can be raped and beaten or even killed by the inmates and even the guards.
In other moments there are inmates that have to earn their place by doing something they might not want to do like beating another inmate up or even killing another inmate.
Andy says this quote when he is talking to red. I guess it comes down to a simple choice, really. Get busy living or get busy dying.
Andy and red are talking about if they will ever get out of shawshank they also talk about what they wood do if the got out into the world. Red talks more about how he is an Institutional man and that what andy is saying are just shitty pipe dreams.
In this quote it shows that when you encounter unfavorable situations you have a choice and you need to think about the choice you make and how it will help you. you can fall into a hole and dig down to find your way out or you can try as hard as you can to succeed and accomplish what you are doing.
If your have chosen to get busy living, you need to be Determined to succeed and to do that you need to have hope in yourself living takes years dying takes seconds it’s your choice determination is what will make you succeed.
Determination is so important and it comes in so many forms you could have someone that beats you up every day but you think about how you will be the only one in your family that graduates so you don’t hit back that is determination in that you want to succeed.
Red says this well talking about how andy Escaped. I have to remind myself that some birds aren’t meant to be caged their feathers are just to bright.
Red is emaganing what andy is doing and how he went through a lot to escape altho it makes him sad at times he has to remind himself.
this quote shows no matter how hard you work you need help so andy worked with the worden to set himself up for when he broke out and he did things for other people no matter what he did, he had hope and determination it took him 19 years.
One of the most important things is to have something in your head and andy had hope and determination when he got through that wall he had so much hope that he kept on going till he got into that pipe and succeeded.
Hope can be used for anything or by anyone think about the last time you had a problem and what was the thing that fixed that problem hope is like a Medicine it can help you heal yourself.
There’s not a day goes by I don’t feel regret the reason it happened was because this person was in a dark place and thought that no one had hope in her and that she could never be someone and that she had no one in her life.
I learned that night that everyone no matter who they are they need someone that has hope in them and even know I spent 6 hours on a roof with someone that just wanted to die I was determined to help her.
I spent so much time with her after that and a month i moved to alberta she tried to kill herself again so i live with regret that i didint tell her family if i told that family how I helped with teaching her about hope and determination she would still be out spending time tithe her friends.
You might not be able to help other people but you can do things to help with your problems you need to move on and succeed don’t let the same thing happen to you.
When you try your best and when you shine people notice but when you are dark and sad all the time no one will want to help you even if you are good at what you do. so you need to show people that you can succeed and have some hope you need to try and be determined in the work you do.
People look up to strong people that show other people that they can succeed and they use dark sad people as a stepping stool so what are you, you get to determine that no one will choose that for you it’s your life so take control of it.
Because you can show to people that you have hope so next time you get knocked down you get up use that determination and go for it life is hard so make it eser.
