After going through Walden’s Vision, Mission and goals, I have a right feeling that Walden is the right place for me to build my long waited goal as a Psychiatric and Mental health Nurse practitioner. My goal for completing a graduate program is to be able to affect my generation in my way by offering help to the mentally disturbed in my immediate community.
With this purpose in mind, I do have professional goals that I have set for myself to be a well-equipped Psychiatric and Mental health Nurse practitioner. My goals are: to provide evidence-based practice in my field as a nurse practitioner, further my education by attaining a doctorate in nursing, work with organizations that support nurse practitioner role and most importantly advocate for treatment that is evidence-based for the patients I treat.
Earning a Master’s degree will help me in meeting my goals and carrying out the mission of Walden University which is making a difference in one’s community while the school of nursing also has a mission to train students in the area of specialty nursing so that they can transform their society.
Walden University MSN program outcomes have provided me with the foundational study I do require to be successful in my new journey of becoming a Psychiatric and Mental Health Practitioner by starting the program with the student readiness orientation and the foundation for graduate study courses. The student orientation readiness courses helped me in knowing how to navigate the blackboard to be an active online learner while the foundation for graduate study course equipped me with the knowledge I need to be successful in my upcoming major classes by helping me be a better academic writer. Been an academic writer is an area I need to improve on all the time.
My purpose for advancing for a graduate program is to continually seek advancement in nursing care to give expert, quality care and treatment to my patients.
