My absolute least favorite thing, the thing I dread most is talking about myself. So to get this over with I will write as if I am talking about someone else (3rd person).

Henry will always willingly and successfully try to do what is required, even if it means performing tasks that are not in the job description or if required to do extra work unexpectedly. He is able to concentrate and stay focused for periods of extended hours, even when tasks are relatively mundane (e.g. removing BOX accounts) and doesn’t make mistakes.

He has a very high boredom threshold. Henry is always assured and confident in demeanor and presents ideas without being aggressively over-confident. He is always eager to take on a new task, whether hard or simple, and tackles it diligently, without question or complaint. This positive attitude inspires others too (hopefully).

Henry reacts quickly and decisively in an emergency, keeping a cool head and effectively leading others. When ideas are challenged, he listens to their view politely, but is able to maintain a position firmly and persuasively without aggression. Henry responds well when put under pressure – and accepts that pressure is a regular part of the job (especially at white-glove events like SPC). He understands the importance of confidentiality, and can always be trusted not to reveal confidential or private information to unauthorized parties.

Henry always follows instructions precisely and completely. However, when meeting a situation outside the rules, he knows exactly how to act in an appropriate manner. Henry is careful to understand the instructions before starting. Henry enjoys working without close supervision and always continues to carry out duties effectively (fire-and-forget). But also knows when a supervisor’s advice or authority is required and seeks help at the appropriate time.

Henry is a self-starter – someone who always finds out the right thing to do and gets on with that job. If a manager has given no guidance, Henry will still take appropriate action. If the required tools are unavailable, he is able to improvise. He always contributes vigorously to the efforts of the team. He understands own weaknesses vs. others’ strengths and goes to the right people for help. Henry sympathetically helps others to address their weaknesses (see something, say something).

Henry accepts feedback cheerfully and uses criticism productively to develop his own abilities and skills. From a set of data, Henry is able to establish a principle, or work out a rule, or suggest a reason for failure or success. His analysis is accurate and often original. In all aspects of work, Henry is not satisfied unless achieving the highest standards. He works relentlessly to improve skills and knowledge, and the quality of impactful work.

Henry succeeds in explaining ideas clearly in his writing. Others find Henry easy to understand. He also has the ability to listen carefully to what others are saying, to understand and then to respond appropriately. Conversations with Henry are two-way.

Henry is polite, courteous, respectful and charming in all situations, without being obsequious. He is unfailingly courteous even when dealing with a difficult person or situation.

Henry prioritizes and sequences his own tasks as well as those of other people in the team. He makes sure that the priority tasks are completed on time. Henry reaches a decision rapidly after taking account of all likely outcomes and estimating the route most likely to bring success. The decisions almost always turn out to be good ones. Henry is easy-going, relaxed, always welcome in a group – though not the strongest personality.

Henry considers problems as a challenge and enjoys finding creative yet appropriate solutions. Henry is able to work out his own solutions, but also works well with a group to solve problems. He regularly produces creative, original ideas, plans, or methods, well-attuned to the needs and capabilities of the organization, and producing clear benefits.

For example: the “Kevin Sneader AMA” Henry was contacted for advice on the McK Event app. George, Steve and Alvaro were involved, but had not satisfactorily resolved all outstanding issues. The event was less than 24 hours away. After listening to the requirements, Henry suggested NOT pursuing the McK Event app. He quickly live-demonstrated a novel approach utilizing PollEv essentially backwards. Kevin’s iPad would display questions submitted by a producer curated from email submissions. This solution worked and remains the technology used in all AMA sessions.

For example: the “SPC in-app voting” Josh Kaufman, President of McK content partner Covision, entrusted Henry to shape the direction of the Asia meeting live polling and implement the solution.

Well, that wasn’t so bad
