Employees that receive time off as a benefit for their work are happier, healthier, and more productive. While granting paid vacation may seem expensive, many benefits may result. Taking paid vacation, not only provide some pleasant time to the employees but also give them the satisfaction of being important. This can be interpreted as compassion in a family; while everyone has a role to play yet they still need to feel that they are important to their family.
Research shows that employees who are assigned at least three weeks annual holidays are happier, healthier, and more productive. There might be a variety of ways to measure the healthiness of the employees, and amongst them, their performance and progress might be one of the valuable ones. According to project time off “people who take all of their vacation time have a 6.5% higher chance of getting a promotion or a raise than people who leave 11 or more days of paid time off on the table”1.
Although this can attribute to many different reasons however it is obviously indicating that staying at work may not be the way to prove competency for getting promoted. Common sense says, the happier the employees, the more productive workforce and if this is the way to have happier employees then its worth it. Obviously, the other side of the coin is developing an unhealthy and burned-out workforce, and this is the first thing to stay away from in any successful business.

Taking time off from the stress coming from serious matters such as work is calming and is proven to be beneficial to one’s health. When one’s time off is accompanied by pleasure and joyful time, improved health seems inevitable.
This is also very important for the companies since relying on worn-out employees is similar to relying on old machines that can fall apart any day. It might not be an adequate comparison however when it comes to business, it all comes down to securing a robust operation that is not going to happen without healthy employees. The length of vacation is also significant in it’s short and long-term impacts.

Evidence shows that taking time away from work benefits brain functions and health. Moreover, many people reported having their best ideas while being away from work. Whatever our business or however it is, hard or easy, isn’t all about wanting to be happier?
