Culture characterizes individuals’ qualities, convictions, and individual interests. An individual’s Culture and upbringing is essential because it enables individuals to keep up a novel character in life. Most cultures have regular interests, but others may have traditions that contrast incredibly from that of another. Also, the way in which an individual is raised makes a huge effect on how he or she thinks because of their experiences. My Culture and upbringing played a major role on who I’ve become because first all my experiences good or bad taught me something that influenced my life secondly growing up I’ve always been taught to act certain ways around people and last but not the least having a Filipino Culture affected my values in life.

First of all great experiences or awful experiences can expand our insight and help us construct understanding throughout everyday life. Growing up I’ve constantly realized what’s great and not great through my experience. When I do certain thing that I shouldn’t do my parents will get disappointed at me and base on that experience I know beyond all doubt that what I did was bad because my parents would yell at me in result. Same thing for when I did certain things that made them proud. Things happen constantly, but do we learn from them? Majority of the time yes because we learn from our experiences. Experiences train us what we ought to or shouldn’t do or help us choose how we can improve our choice and follow up on it effectively next time.

Secondly growing up with a Filipino parent we are instructed to show kindness constantly. This is because Filipinos are commonly known for their ‘hospitality’. Although we are not by any means the only people on the world who can be agreeable, warm, and welcoming, our attitudes toward other people is said to be one of a kind. People that are not from our country that are visiting will always experience being ‘at home’ anyplace in the Philippines. Just like our parents trained us when me and my sister was younger we generally treat a guest in our home with a warm welcome mentality. This have an effect in my life because whatever point I saw somebody that I don’t know I’ve generally been well disposed or act my best towards them. This is a result of how my parents still encouraged us about the way of life in Philippines even when we are brought here up in the US. It’s different growing up because some culture that we are instructed are so different on the way of life that they have here.

Lastly experiencing childhood in a family home we are raised and educated around an essential filipino trait and that is ‘close family ties’. In my family the Dad is the head and the mother are the ‘light,’ the teacher and manager of the family that keeps everyone together. Also, as a result of the closeness that we keep up, our grandparents live with us for whatever length of time that they like. Because we are strictly encouraged that the Filipino values the relationship of the family. My mom always says that the family that dines together binds together and due to this we generally wait for one another when eating in the table, nobody ever eats first and as a result of this I’ve also experience loads of times that I was so hungry and sneak in pieces of desserts when they’re not looking. My point is experiencing childhood in a Filipino home a huge value that was taught to us is Family is essential. Another significant trait that we are taught and is incomparable to different races is ‘respect for the elders’. In the Filipino setting, the parents are concurred the highest respect in the family. So, me and my sister are constantly respectful to our parents and this quality stayed and made us conscious when conversing people older than us. It is an ethical standard for children to talk and behave respectfully.

To finish up a person’s way of life and what their culture mainly values makes an enormous effect on how they think. The manner in which they are raised solidifies their mindset because their parents are their teacher about life. So whatever Culture and Values the parent have, this will also be passed down to their children since it is them who are showing their children on the best way to carry on with their life. My Culture and upbringing played a major role in who I’ve become because every experience I’ve had great or terrible showed me something that impacted my life and growing up I’ve generally been instructed to act certain ways around people additionally having a Filipino Culture influenced my qualities throughout everyday life. I am thankful that I’ve been raised along these lines because with an alternate culture I think I wouldn’t be a similar person the way I am today.
