Police brutality is an extremely contentious subject in the United States. The rampant Police brutality against minorities is a significant issue that influences all of America. While the main argument is always that these police officers felt like their lives were being threatened when they made the decision to end the lives of numerous Minorities in America, they took an oath to protect and serve us including the innocent people whose only crime was being in the wrong place at the wrong time with the wrong skin tone.

One of the main problems with police brutality is that it is generally never punished. An important issue regarding police brutality in America would be connected to the widespread atrocity that is racial discrimination. This suggests the fact that there could be a preconception among law enforcement officers that minorities are mostly thought to be criminals. This may be evidence that certain law enforcement officers are purposefully misusing their authority so that they may implement their racist assaults and abuse without the fear of facing repercussions.

Police Brutality has been something that has been around for decades the only reason we now see it uprising is not because of an increase in violence but because of an increase in Awareness and social media that has spread awareness for this issue nationwide. The ascension of social media brought the realization to the concerning topic of Police Brutality against Minorities. Dr. Siry Alang, a well-known medical sociologist and a structural racism activist reasons that this may perhaps be the reason why a myriad of law enforcement violence and police brutality has been becoming more apparent and discussed as of late. The world of social networking has created a whole new world for numerous people to utilize and for some to even gain their own voices. Before social media, this type of awareness would have been almost impossible. Since, thanks to the internet, any story or idea can acquire a major following and now the numerous acts of police brutality are now more evident and much more difficult to send off with a slap on the wrist. The problem has achieved eminence in current years because of the many recent murders of minorities that have been caused by the law. This means that minorities all over the United States of America are forced to live in fear of one day becoming a potential victim all because of the color of their skin.

While police cruelty is often characterized as an assault by a law enforcement officer it could also be identified as the use of force, harassment, death as a result of the assault, arresting minorities for things they did not do, planting guns or drugs on minority’s to fit their monthly quota of arrests. Death should never be the first response especially in instances where the victim could possibly be mentally challenged.

In order to oppose the issue of police brutality, we as people must come together and create solutions that could one day lead to positive change. In order to ensure that these people in positions of power are kept accountable for their actions, they should be required to keep their body cams on at all times while on duty This ultimately would cause them to be more liable for their actions and mindful of what they do. This permits all law enforcement officers to be held culpable for their actions and also prohibits false reports from all citizens. With this being said, one of the only problems with the police body or dashboard cameras would be that the line of sight and the angles recorded would be very limited meaning that the brutality could still happen outside of the camera’s line of vision; the use of police body cameras have been increasing inaccessibility across various law enforcement offices. It grants those genuine police officers the ability to avoid all unjust convictions of police violence.

Overall, Police Brutality against Minorities has been an adverse but awfully significant cultural issue. It has resulted in the unjust bias against our countries minorities. This discrimination has forced many of them to live in fear and caution. Numerous law enforcement officers have openly shared their distrust for African Americans and often use this prejudice to meet their arrest quotas by arresting innocent black people. This oppression has to stop and the deeply seeded hatred so many police officers have for black people needs to be resolved or at least not used in order to destroy so many young black people’s lives.
