Writing process is a very painful process to deal with and it talks more time sometimes to come up with an idea or even to start with something. in this article, she explained that every writer has to write really shitty draft because sometimes and without noticing you can find something really interesting that you mentioned/wrote without knowing and you can use that idea to start with.
in the 4th paragraph, she states to compares the first shitty drafts to a child’s drafts. She says in the first few pages the child in us may be dominant but slowly the mature voice will take over. also, the good sentences may come once we have exhausted the emotional part of us. She states to reach that mature writing you have to go through this process.
In the last paragraph, she talks about her writing food reviews for California magazine. she says that she would go to a restaurant a few times with her opinionated or friends and sit there to write about everything that people says like funny or interesting things about the restaurant. and on the next day, she would sit on her desk to write her review about the restaurant and she would write everything comes to her mind and imagines her “critics sitting on her shoulder” so she can produce a good review that she confident about it and she would not have to write it again.
She states that she would trust her process of writing. She would “write a first draft that twice as long as it should be” and on the next day she would go over what she wrote and take out she doesn’t like and find a new lead. To start with her second draft. She states that she would go over again. On the next restaurant review, the whole process starts again.
