For my compare and contrast essay I decided to do my topic on two Baseball teams. The two baseball teams that i’m gonna compare that in my opinion that are most alike are the Chicago cubs and the New York Yankees. The Three things in my opinion that I know that are most alike is they have very good line up, there very good pitching staff and also there very good development system.
The first thing that i would like to compare is that they have almost the exact same hitters when it comes to there hitters 1 through 9, Both teams have very good power numbers and their players are leading the league in home runs and batting average. Players Like Javier Baez on the chicago cubs and Aaron Judge on the Yankees put up very good home run numbers. Javier after an MVP trophy Caliber put up a stat line of 34 home runs and 114 Runs Batted in, were both Career Highs for him. Also for the Yankees Aaron Judge the last time he was healthy for a whole season 2 years ago he had 52 home runs and 114 runs batted in which is a very similar stat line which shows that both there lineups are very similar.
My 2nd reasoning to why the teams are practically the same is that they both have very good pitching rotations there earned run average (ERA) are 3rd and 6th in the league which the Cubs have a combined earned run average of 4.07 Era which is really good and the yankees had a combined Era of 4.14 which also very similar and pretty close in numbers. I also believe there pitching rotation is Basically the same Because they have many allstars on there teams. The yankees for example have players like Louis Severino who was an all star for them last year, and came 2nd in Cy Young voting (Best Pitcher in the league). So was the other 2 pitchers on the yankees like J.A Happ and James Paxton who were also allstars last season.

But just Like the Yankees the Chicago Cubs have some allstars of their own, Every single pitcher in the cubs rotation was an allstar but in my eyes, the player that has the most impressive career on the cubs would be john Lester he is a 5x allstar he’s been in the top 5 Cy young award voting 3x which is pretty impressive and has won a world series(MLB Championship). Other pitchers that have also compare to the yankees pitchers would be Yu Darvis,Jose Quintana and Kyle Hendricks That both put up identical numbers as the yankees pitchers.
My final Reasoning as to why I believe both teams have in common is that they have both got a really good development system. There most important players have come from drafting and developing their players which is a really good things players such as Gleyber Torres, Luis Severino and Aaron Judge all became good because the yankees drafted signed and trained them when they were young and now they are the leaders of their team and are some of the best players the MLB has to offer. Same goes with the chicago cubs almost all of their team has come from their development system, Player like Javier Baez that I mentioned before, their left fielder Kyle schwarber and there 3rd baseman Kris Bryant the cubs have all developed and are the faces of their company and the MLB which shows that both teams have great development team.
In conclusion I believe the yankees and the cubs are both very good and similar due to their development of there players, pitching rotation and lineup which is the reason why there are very similar making them both some of the scariest teams in the MLB.
