There are many aspects of feminism which were noticed throughout the whole growth of feminism. Some of the famous aspects are given below.

Radical Feminism

Radical feminism was introduced in the United States as the component of the women liberation movement in the 1960s. Radical feminism is a concept which sees the inequality between men and women in the patriarchal roots. The main focus of radical feminists was on the patriarchy because for them it was the main source of the women’s oppression.

According to them, patriarchal society gives more power and authority to male through which he governs the female and oppresses them. So, they were totally against the patriarchal society.

According to them, the only way to get rid of the patriarchy is to break down it rather make changes in it because male and patriarchy are inseparable politically and mentally. Radical feminism is known as the extreme form of feminism.

Liberal Feminism

Liberal feminism is a theory which focuses more on the gender equality issues in the public and private lives of women. According to liberal feminists, both women and men are equal physically and intellectually. So they both are capable of self-determination and liberty. The paramount aim of this theory was to shrug off domestic violence, sexual harassment, inequality in education, better work condition and equal opportunities in the male-dominated society. Some of the key achievements of the liberal feminists were the passing of the Equal Rights Amendment and the forming of the National Organization for Women.

Socialist Feminism

The term “socialist feminism” was increasingly used during the 1970s. Socialist feminist theory analyzes the links between the oppression of women and other problems in the society such as economic injustice and racism. Socialist feminist claims that the main cause behind women’s oppression is capitalism. According to them, capitalism supports the sexist status quo because in capitalism men have more power and money as compared to women. So in the capitalist system, women are completely neglected and they give very few opportunities to them and they work under the four walls of her home.

Cultural feminism

Cultural feminism is a perception that there is a female essence or female nature. Culture feminism emerged in the 1970s after the demise of radical feminism as a movement. According to cultural feminism, women have a very different perception of seeing the world around them which is superior as compared to men. Some cultural feminists also argue that the behaviour of women is more caring, cooperative and kind as compared to the violent and competitive nature of men. The essence of being a woman makes a woman very special and different from men according to this view. The female essence includes cooperation, peace, relationship, sisterhood and shared identity makes the woman special and superior to men.
