A leader is the person who leads or commands a group. The qualities of a good leader are honesty, commitment, confidence and a positive attitude. I believe I am a leader because I am hardworking, kind, committed, friendly and enthusiastic.

Leaders should be involved. I transferred to Saint Dominic Academy sophomore year and immediately got involved in clubs and activities because that is what a good leader does. I joined the student ambassadors, glee club/dominoes, anime club, the soccer team and track. I am always present for school events and I have never missed a single one.

A good leader represents their school and speaks highly of it. I joined the student ambassadors because I love representing my school and making new students feel welcome. I know how it feels to be in a new place, scared and confused I wanted to make them feel comfortable in the loving environment of SDA. I joined the glee club/dominoes because I love singing for people and I noticed it makes them happy, a leader uses their abilities to make others happy. Whenever I get the chance to, I always tell my friends outside SDA how great the school is and I encourage them to join the glee club if they come to SDA because it is the best place to be, as a leader I need to speak highly of my school.

A leader is kind, caring and always there for people when they need them. Anytime I notice a student sad or having a bad day, I always ask them what’s wrong and I try to encourage them and make them feel better. I am always there for friends, family and my SDA sisters when they need me.

Good leaders are confident. When I first came to SDA I was too scared to talk to people and just being around them made me nervous, but SDA made me more confident. My friends and teachers made it easier for me and the SDA environment makes me feel comfortable. Truly coming to SDA was the best thing for me because now I am more confident than I was freshmen year.

Being a member of the National Honor Society will be a great privilege for me and I believe I have all the qualities of a good leader. I am ready to take on all the responsibilities of being an NHS member. I know being part of NHS takes a lot of dedication and I’m ready to commit myself to it. If I become a member I promise to be hardworking, committed, kind to my fellow students and present for every meeting we have. I understand that it’s not just about having the title, but the willingness to do all that it requires.
