When he got back from his travels, Polo brought jewels, treasures, and wealth to his hometown. Many people wanted to buy and read his book so he got a lot of money off of people reading his book.

After he arrived home and wrote his book, many people thought he was exaggerating and not telling the truth in his book. His credibility went down when people didn’t believe him. Also he gained a bunch of wealth from his travels in China, but he already was born into wealth because of his father’s money so it wasn’t that big of an accomplishment for him based on his family.

Marco was already wealthy before his journey. His father was trading and exploring well before Polo was even born. Besides inheriting his wealth, Marco got goods from when he was on The Silk Road and working with the chinese emperor. The emperor took a strong liking to Polo when he got to China and was placed on his court to do tasks. He was payed for his services and got more than money. On the Silk Road he traded and got many different types of goods. On the other hand, Columbus knew if he sailed directly from Europe to Asia, he would be rewarded with goods, gold, and power. This, proving a point, and power for himself and his country were some of the main reasons Columbus wanted to travel.

Marco Polo wrote his book about his travels. Christopher Columbus kept a journal when he was sailing through India and exploring. They both had records of their journies on paper. Also Columbus used Polos book of travels when he decided he wanted to go travel to China and The Silk Road just like Marco did. In terms of glory Marco wrote his book to inform people about his exploration and to get recgonition about what he did. Columbus wanted to explore because he wanted to be the first person to travel where no one has before. He wanted all the power and glory he would get if he got to his preferred destination. When Marco Polo arrived in China, and he got there by traveling on what would later be known as the Silk Road. Marco explored and journeyed through China and India for a while. He ended up joining Kublai’s court, possibly as a tax collector.

Marco Polo treated the natives nicely and equally, he actually became friends with the natives during his time there. Since Marco was sent on a lot of missions and was in China for a long time, he got used to conversing with the chinese.

The emperor Kublai Khan, was so impressed by Marco Polo, he appointed Polo to be on his imperial court. Since the emperor took a liking towards Marco, many of the natives and people on Khans court started to look up to Polo and thought he was a great asset to them. They put Marco Polo on a leader type position and assigned him important tasks which means they trusted and believed in him.

The effect of Marco Polo using what is now known as the Silk Road is made a huge impact on China because of all the goods, cultures, and people that used the road. By trading goods, stories, animals, people, even diseases, cultural blending made an impact on all of the countried that used the Silk Road. It was a great, popular place for people to travel and trade.Marco Polo wrote a book about all his travels. He talked about China and Kublai’s Klan. The title was Livres des Merveilles du Monde but it is now translated and can be read by whomever.

Marco Polo wrote a book about his travels and published it after he got back from travelling. A person from the time period would use the book by having it as a guide if they are going to travel to somewhere Polo already did. Christopher Columbus actually brought Marco Polo’s book along with him as he sailed to the New World. He made notes and wrote in Polo’s book about how he was going to act and what he was going to do when he arrived. People in our time period right now would be able to read the book as a source of information on Polo’s travels and learn about the history of where he went and what he did.

Map of Marco Polo’s travels between 1271-1295. He went to and through Venice, Acre, Ormuz, Beijing, Pagan, and Constantinople. From his book and journals of traveling, we can conclude this is the route he took when exploring. When Polo went over to China he stayed there for a long time. He got used to all of their customs, while he offered his own when he was appointed to be apart of Khans court. Both the natives and Marco combined their own beliefs and tactics together as they worked on the same court for a long time. Polos journey creates cultural blending by him bringing parts of the eastern civilization and sharing his stories and experiences with everyone from his hometown. Getting people excited and curious about a different country’s culture and fitting some of their traditions into Venice is a way he created cultural blending.

After his journey to China, Polo came back to his hometown. He had a hard time talking in his native tongue when he had been gone for so long and had adapted into speaking the Eastern vernacular. Along with the trouble in speaking their old language, Marco also brought and shared many of the stories and tales he heard from his journeys overseas in the east.

That made many people curious as they began to learn more about the culture from the east. More people wanted to travel because of Polo, all eager to go out and discover what Marco did in China and Asia. By Polo travelling through the silk road he brought parts from the west to the east and parts of the east to the west. There are different reasons as to why explorers want to stay where they explored. Marco Polo stayed in China for 17 years and worked for one of the emperors. The reason Polo stayed was for goods, work, and glory. Others explorers want to stay where they explored because they want to keep exploring and expand wherever they are.

People colonize because they want to claim more land and gain power for themselves or their country. Finding new/unconquered space allows them to conquer and claim that land. It helps them broaden their empire and build on their country’s power. One of the reasons they do not colonize could be lack of money/supplies to be able to colonize a place. China chooses not to colonize because of solidarity. They want to be self sufficient and do not want any outside influences affect their economy and well being. It also prevents revolutions and uprisings of the colonized citizens from happening.

Explorers accomplish gaining power, gold, and land from exploring and colonizing. Once they explore a new, never been seen land, they can claim it for their country. If they are exploring for their country, they can be awarded with power, gold, and popularity with your leaders. Many of them accomplished finding new lands, and because of that they are paving the way for new explorers.

Natives- The native population was affected by the colonists coming to take over their land. Along with taking the natives lands, they also brought new diseases and illnesses. Since the natives have not seen these diseases before, many of the natives got sick and died from it. Deforestation- There was a huge decrease in forests because of the plantations the colonists did on the natives land. They cleared out most of their forestry area to make money and gain profit. The colonists introduced many new plants and animals, which got rid of a lot of the natives plants/animals. Because of the colonists cattle overgrazing, many of the plants were also decreased that way.

Colonists- The colonists left their own country to become independent and have their own freedom. They started to take over and colonize new countries, seperating themselves from their birth country. It was hard for them to be so far and unconnected with their own country. That started to stir up some feelings of anger, resentment, and intolerance from the colonists. Finally the colonizition made by the colonists made it nearly impossible to have any sort of ties and connection with their own country.

Colonization affected all three of these effects in a negative way. Even though most of the effects were bad, colonization was a huge part of our history.
