The development of this paper was conducted by reviewing recent literature on the topic to explore the connection and how exercise and physical activity influence the health condition of older adults across the US. The public health care system of the US should develop health policies that incorporate exercise and physical activity are the prescriptions and treatment of different lifestyle health conditions. Lifestyle health conditions are associated with age and gender. Aging is a complex process that entails the interaction of various factors like primary aging processes, genetic factors, secondary aging effects, among others (Bouchard, Blair, & Haskell, 2012). Incorporating physical activity in public health will help in managing older women’s lifestyles by encouraging them to participate in regular physical activity. Physical activity helps increase the average life expectancy among older women in the United States because of its influence on chronic disease developments. It will, therefore, help solve various health conditions and problems associated with aging processes among women in the country.
The public health sector should create public awareness across the country to teach people the importance of engaging in physical activity and exercise. The literature review findings have depicted that physical activity and exercise reduce older women’s mortality rates. If the government, through the ministry of should organize a health living campaign to provide mass education concerning the importance of regular physical activity. Exercise will be a step closer to reducing women’s mortality rates in the United States. One way the government can conduct a marketing campaign is by using electronic mechanisms or mobile education because many people in the country have access to mobile phones. The process can involve using an automated text message delivered on the target population daily. Public education is vital in fighting chronic health conditions like diabetes, aging disease, cancer, heart disease, blood pressure, among others (Bouchard, Blair, & Haskell, 2012). An educated society will help increase the number of older women across the country, participating in physical activity and exercise. This will work magic in reducing the rate of senior women’s mortality rates.
The types of physical activity and exercise recommended for older women are diverse. The United States government should develop policies regarding health that encourage older adults to engage in different physical activities because it has significant health benefits on the individual (Tucker, Welk, & Beyler, 2011). Such policies will help reduce government expenditure on public health because physical activity and exercise demonstrate a long active, and healthy life. Important physical activity and practices for older women require balance training, which helps to reduce the number of senior women falls and fractures accruing from such falls. Older adults are particularly at high risk of falls. Thus, they will benefit from physical activity programs entailing multimodal balance, walking, strength, and flexibility exercises (Milanović et al., 2013). Exercise influences and physical activity on physical functioning and daily life endeavors. Older women in the US engaging in physical activity depict improved physical functioning and enhance performance in everyday activities. Physical activity is essential in society should have individualized physical activity and exercise programs to help improve health performance and reduce mortality rates in the world (Kokkinos, 2012).
In conclusion, physical activity is related to good health in the elderly population across the world. Physical activity and exercise are good for physiological body functioning and physiological system functioning. Older women in the United States that engaged in physical activity demonstrated improved health functioning. Different types of physical activity including balancing, stretching, and flexibility, muscle endurance exercise, aerobic exercises, among others, are instrumental in addressing chronic disease (CDC., 2019). As has been discussed, physical activity and exercise reduce the mortality rate among older women in the country and should be encouraged to spread across all genders.
