Napoleon Bonaparte was french’s military leader that would turn himself into much more. Napoleon was one of the best military leaders and for some time be a good king but at one point there is a downfall. Born August 15, 1769, one of seven other siblings. He started military early at the age of 9. From then on he would become more powerful and be the arguably opinionated as hero or tyrant. I believe that Napoleon was a Tyrant for what he did.

Napoleon was also referred to as a tyrant for some of the bad things he did and the mistakes he made. The first mistake he made was the continental system, the continental system was a blockade to prevent all trade and communication between Great Britain and other european nations. If he couldn’t trade or communicate he couldn’t get any useful things from other countries and other country can’t get any goods from france which most likely made them mad.

The next mistake were the Peninsular wars. Napoleon marched his army through spain to get to portugal and in the end loses 300,000 troops. Lastly, the invasion of Russia. This is known as napoleon’s biggest mistake of all. He sends 420,000 soldiers to invade and only 10,000 soldiers come back.

Napoleon might be known for some bad things but he has also accomplished some success in his time alive. Napoleon defends National Convention from pro monarchy rebels in 1795. A pro monarchy is when a state or nation is actually or normally lodged in a monarch. In 1796 was when he defeated forces from austria and italy. Napoleon conquered northern italy and split it up into states.

He also ends up controlling the economy by creating efficient and fair taxes, making a national bank and to end government corruption and also creates more school for better education. He also created the napoleonic code. The Napoleonic code were laws created for everybody that were citizens of france. Around 1805 he had one of the largest Europe empires since the Romanian time.

There were alot of reasons why he could be a hero but I believe he was truly a tyrant. Around 1805, Napoleon had one of the best empires but he failed so miserably at the end. He made very bad choices of sending troops because they always ended up dying or coming back with a defeat and little soldiers coming back. One of the best empires to just an average country. After all of the mistakes he leaves and comes back later but makes no major comebacks and dies in 1821. Napoleon was good for only a little bit but ended up making the empire worse than it was when he started.
