The book starts off with Jones heading to bed. After Jones heads to bed the animals meet up at the barn. A pig, named Old Major, tells them about a dream he had that animals live a great life and free from the humans. After that meeting Old Major soons dies. After the Major’s death the animals feel inspired to plot a rebellion against Jones. Two of the animals named Snowball and Napoleon prove themselves as the planners of this crazy enterprise. When Jones forgets to feed the animals that’s when the animals chase Jones and his workers out of the farm. The animals soon rename the farm Animal farm and make seven commandments of Animalism.

After the rebellion the animals meet every Sunday and the pigs become the leaders of the farm, but Napoleon started to become like a dictator by taking cow’s milk and apples to feed the pigs. He gets another pig to persuade all of the animals that pigs are always correct. Later Jones and his men try to retake the farm from the animals but the animals successfully defend them off. They called this fight against Jones The Battle of the Cowshed. After that battle winter comes and Mollie is lured off by a human. Snowball proposes a plan to build a windmill, but Napoleon rejects the idea of building a windmill.

On Sunday, when the animals decide to build the windmill or not Napoleon brings dogs to chase Snowball out of the farm. He then says that the windmill was his idea and decides to build it. Later on Jones forgets about the farm and moves to a different country. Napoleon then starts to begin trade with neighboring farms. During the building process of the windmill a storm blows the windmill down. When this happened Napoleon blames Snowball for this. This part is where Napoleon starts to be a true dictator he starts trying to get confessions out of animals and he also started killing these animals in front of the whole farm. Then Napoleon starts to move in with all the pigs in Jones’ old house. Then Napoleon starts feeding the animals less food and saving it for themselves. Then Fredrick, a human from a neighboring farm, started to attack them by exploding the windmill, but they were soon defended off. Then Boxer, one of the horses, offers to rebuild the windmill. When Boxer was building the windmill he collapses and Napoleon sold the horse to a knacker.

Years later Napoleon expands the farm by buying land off another farmer. Then the Seven Commandments have been changed to “all animals are equal but some are more equal than others. The story ends with Napoleon sharing a drink with Pilkington and as the animals look inside a suffer from the cruel rulership of Napoleon. One of the themes of this story is the politics in this theme. It basically summarizes the overview of communism which was a big part in Russia during Stalin’s rule.

There are so many animals and humans to choose from in the book animal farm but I decide to talk about Snowball and Napoleon. Snowball had a huge role to the rise on animalism. Snowball helps plan to take over the farm and drive Jones out of the farm. He comes up with many ideas. He helps come up with the idea to build the windmill to help the electricity of the farm. Snowball helped teach the animals on how to read and won the loyalty of all the animals. His motivation is to help spread the belief of Animalism and make life fair for the animals. He consisted of many strengths one of the biggest strengths he had was his intelligence. He used this by help making the farm better like building a windmill, helping the animals, and taking over the farm.

Another one of his strengths is that he is loyal to all the animals. Unlike Napoleon, Snowball is a kind hearted person who doesn’t just care about himself. One of Snowball’s weakness is that he lets Napoleon push him around. This is his weakness because Napoleon pushes him around by stealing his ideas. Because of this weakness it helps lead to his downfall because Napoleon chases Snowball out with dogs and Snowball never returned to the farm ever again. I would say that Snowball’s character is believable because of the things we do today. It is the same thing we do as Christians we try to spread Christianity and be loyal to each other just like Snowball trying to help spread Animalism and be loyal to the other animals. Basically Snowball is a kind pig who tries to help the animals to live great lives to avoid the torture Jones gave to them when he ran the farm.
