I have been able to make my academic success more efficient as a result of identifying what works best for me regarding my learning abilities and tools, developing specific skills and also establishing new mindsets. There are multiple skills that have been very efficient and beneficial when it comes to academic success. Time management is crucial to get much more work done within less time spent and a reduced amount of effort.
I have come across new methods for studying such as learning how to prioritize and focus on my tasks and assignments in order to successfully complete them on time. Being able to finish my work on time not only enabled me to complete them consciously with no stress knowing that I was not procrastinating but I also had extra time to study and review my notes. Furthermore, certain learning abilities and tools have also helped me with improving my academic achievement.
Identifying which specific strategies help me retain information was also pivotal to upsurge in my academic performance and cultivate beneficial habits throughout my day. I learned that putting alarms on my phone, getting a calendar and color coding the priorities of tasks and events help me administer my time more effectively. Additionally, I realized that in order to fully learn and understand the material, it was inevitable to participate in class, pay attention to the lesson and take good notes which also made it easier to study at home or during my free time.
Being involved in and outside of class had an effect on my academic success. After I distinguished what my distractions usually are, I try to avoid them or get rid of them while I am in class or studying. As a matter of fact, I realized my phone is my biggest interruption during my study time. Over time, following all of these strategies became my personal method of studying and learning, which I found that was very useful and effective, since the results were evident in my grades. Ultimately, establishing new mindsets was the key to improving my academic success.
Shifting my mentality to a more motivated, engaged and enthusiastic mindset was the most advantageous adjustment I could have done to enhance my achievements at school. It was indisputable that in the subjects I am the most interested in, my academic performance was better than in classes I was not fully committed to due to my lack of interest. Additionally, setting realistic goals encouraged me to complete them rather than setting impractical ones which stressed me out and at the end, I did not end up doing them.
I perceived that rewarding myself after achieving these academic goals, helped me keep me motivated and determined. Small details, such as having a nutritious breakfast the day of an important test, help me stay focused and I am more likely to do better on the assignment rather than skipping breakfast or just having a granola bar. Overall, I believe the mindset shift was what positively affected me the most, having beneficial outcomes in my academic performance.
