This is an analytical essay in which the author delves into William Shakespeare’s “Hamlet.” The author highlights Hamlet’s procrastination and the overall impact it had on the story. The author also suggests that Hamlet goes crazy, leading him to act out in unexpected ways.
There was a famous play write named Shakespeare and He wrote a play called Hamlet. A lot of different occurrences happened and there was a tragic ending. At one point, he had a character wanting revenge due to his own procrastination. One of the main characters, Prince Hamlet found out that his father, King Hamlet was murdered by his brother, who is now King Claudius; who was lying under a tree in an orchard for a nap and his brother poured poison in his ear from a vile.
“I shall not look upon his like again” – (Hamlet to Horatio) Hamlet planned revenge on his Uncle immediately, but people and certain happenings held it off for a while. He wrote it based on what was going on in his life and about another play based on a Danish king who was just like Hamlet. Both the Danish prince in the other play and Hamlet where in similar situation; who procrastinated; kept putting off the killing of his father; a lot longer than he has sought too.

To start off with, Shakespeare wrote about young Prince Hamlet wanting to kill his uncle for killing his father King Hamlet, the former king. Hamlet was posed with some tough decisions and he had an attitude toward what had been going on and through other characters, He got insight into what really was going on.
The reason why Claudius committed the murder was to steal the throne from his brother and to take advantage of the beautiful Queen Gertrude. When he first found out how it happened, Hamlet wanted to seek immediate revenge on his Uncle/ father. He planned on killing Him in his sleep or while Claudius was not paying attention and sneak up on him. But it did not work out as he planned. He had to come up with a way to ensure his theory was correct, so he did not falsely accuse and kill the king.
In addition to Hamlet wanting to get rid of King Claudius, he had to make sure he was actually guilty of the crime. He wrote his own play to reenact his father’s death to see if King Claudius would react to it as if he committed the murder. He had the play set up and based on what He knew, but tried to disguise it so the King would not know Hamlet was trying to manipulate him. The king sure enough got really upset when the part of the death came on. He got up out of his chair, wandered around and ran off.
Hamlet got up after him and realized that he knew King Claudius was 100% guilty of the murder. Once he knew the King was guilty, he started to plot revenge. He had been set to kill the King while he was praying, but then realized he would go to hell and the King would go to heaven. So he planned to kill him another time, but almost every time he tried or had an idea, something else came up and stopped Hamlet dead in his tracks. “Though this be madness, yet there is method in ‘t” (Act II, Scene II). Shakespeare wrote Hamlet in old English to highlight his main ideas and his thoughts on hamlets procrastination.
Regarding all that has happened, Hamlet was worried about his mother Queen Gertrude. As soon a Hamlet had all he needed to know, he went off to tell his mother about his discovery. He did not want her to sleep with Him and wanted her to refrain from any other activities with the king. He was hoping that she would not be afraid of what he was going to tell her and hoped she would take it seriously and believe it. When Hamlet went to warn his mom about the awful deed that King Claudius has done, she was in some disbelief about what he had to say. She listened closely and had her own opinion, but did not believe very much of what Hamlet said. She did not believe that her new king was the reason for her husband’s death and to blame for some of Hamlets madness.
To conclude with, Hamlets procrastination led to many different problems and eventually put off the decease of King Claudius until the end of the play Shakespeare used a lot of different ideas and poetic devices to emphasize his ideas. A lot of different people and events took place that made Hamlet go crazy and act out in the ways that he did. Most of Hamlets ideas did not go as planned. He wanted to seek revenge on him for killing his father, but his craziness and lack of timing played a huge factor in the play and the eventual death of the King.
