The death penalty is very controversy, many people are for it and many people are against it. For the people who don’t know how the death penalty works, it’s the punishment of execution, administered to someone legally convicted of a capital crime. Capital crime is the legally authorized killing of someone as punishment for a crime.
There are five way they do the death penalty, all depending on what state you live in. The five are hanging, lethal injection, electric chair, firing squad and gas. Many individuals believe that on should not have to face the death penalty for acts of murder and many do. It is very rare for someone to be wrongly accused for the death penalty because the process is very tedious and therefore a lot of steps, coast a lot because of all the judges, and lawyers that are preparing for trials given that a person’s life is at risk. so, they can officially make the decision to sentence someone to death.
The steps for the death penalty are. The direct appeal, State post-Conviction, Federal Habeas Corpus, U.S. District Court, U.S. Court of Appels, U.S. Supreme Court, and the final step is Executive Clemency. The process takes so long because “Death penalty appeals leave no stone unturned simply because the stakes are so high, and to state the obvious, a mistaken execution cannot be corrected later.” I believe it is more humane to use the death penalty than imprison someone for capital crime the person did when sentenced to life. I believe a person should be reprimanded for a particular crime such rape and murder. In my opinion rape and murder should not be tolerated in any way and that the must be received with extreme punishment by law.
The way I see it is if you ever had someone apart of your family or a friend was murdered wouldn’t you want them dead for the pain and suffering the person caused on you and your family for what that person did. I would want them to face the same fate. Also, the death penalty is impendent for criminals who are even thinking about committing such a crime. “Capital punishment does, in fact, save lives. Each additional execution appears to deter between three and 18 murders.” the fact that criminals are more hesitant when commenting a capital crime is saving lives. I feel that when someone is executed it should be broadcast live over television for people to see so more people are afraid and think twice about committing murder or rape.
Therefore, having that reason people wont have to worry about going for a run at night or being in a bad part of town or crime is usually high. Muhlhausen, David.
