Telecommuting is very popular nowadays due to the increase in information services jobs where employees are responsible for processing and handle information. Back in the day, working from home seems impossible due to the lack of technology. However, with the advanced technology, today, working from home is possible and easy — the advanced technology allows us able to have a live face-to-face conversation through phone, desktop, or laptop camera. Therefore, telecommuting is very demanding nowadays, and there are many benefits that employees and employers can gain from it. One of the many benefits of telecommuting is that it offers both employer and employee flexibility. When an employee has the flexibility to control their time, it will lead to job satisfaction and employer will have high employee retention rate, which would save the company thousands of dollars each year. Dr. Ruth A. Wienclaw is an expert on this subject because she has published dozens of articles related to organization development. Dr. Wienclaw also holds a Doctorate in industrial-organizational psychology from the University of Memphis. She is the owner of a small business that provides consulting on matters of strategic planning, training, and human/systems integration.

For instance, the employer that let employee telecommuting can save money on building space, office supply, and happy employee always produce quality work which also leads to wealth. Telecommute allowed employees to have the flexibility to have a work-life relationship, save money on gas, and have better health.
